:( Max, get your running shoes ready! Saints, will BLITZ AND MORE BLITZ.

Another good sign from last Sundays game, SD blitzed our rookie the whole time. He held on to it at times when he should have chucked it away. The O-line had already quit. But little man didn't throw a pick.

I'm convinced that Derek Anderson is a Jedi and used his mind powers on Whisenhunt...

"I can go about my business as your QB"

"These aren't the QB's you're looking for"

I'm all for starting Max Hall at QB and keeping Skelton as a development QB. I guess what I'm wondering, is there another veteran QB out there available better than DA. If Hall falters I don't see bringing DA off the bench as the answer. I guess if Hall falters the Cardinals could go to complete rebuild mode with Skelton. Just wondering about other options.

Max Hall*will be fun to watch, the guy is going to show some enthusiasm that has been lacking all season. I say his leadership catches on with other players.
Hey, the NFC West sucks, let's see if this guy has some magic in his pocket.

The scary part was a lot of those sacks were 4 man rushes not blitzes. Hell one of them was a 3 man rush IIRC.

I agree that Hall can put air under the ball, but as Rugby notes above I don't think he can get a 30-yard pass to the sideline like even one-armed Warner could. You're essentially then running Fitz into the middle of defenses. Even when you look at Hall's college tapes, guys are having to wait for/come back to the ball.

Excellent post.

I'm happy for the QB change. Watching DA out there was a slow walking death. But there are reasons Hall went undrafted. I haven't read a scouting report on Hall that says he has anything other than West Coast Offense arm strength. And even then no one predicted him to be more than a number 2 in the NFL. Of course, media types said that guys like Brady, Romo and Warner wouldn't cut it, either. But for every Warner, there are fifty Timmy Changs. Or Derek Andersons. Based on the recent past, I'm a little worried that Whis fell in love with intangibles and grit while overlooking talent. Hall looked completely overwhelmed until the SD defense stopped trying. He might turn out to be a heck of a QB, but I really think he needed to sit for at least a year.

I don't want to be all negative. Hopefully, Max steps in and provides hope for the future. At the least, the game plan should shift more to a run first style, which is what many of us have been waiting to happen. Good luck, Max. We're pulling for you.

Yeah Russ, it was scary how often Phillips was on the Qb. As if Keith didn't even see him each time he blew by. He owned our RT all day. I have had a chance to watch it and Hall could have held up his end if Keith had bothered to do his assignment. Sendilen didn't help matters letting a NT swim over him for a sack one on one. Pathetic play. Russ Grimm, fix that crap! Hall will do his part.

I can't think of a better way to describe how much Anderson sucks, because being benched by an undrafted rookie is about as bad as it can get.

If we roll the kid out and keep him on the move we just might, might mind you, make a game of this. We may not win but the kid may show just enough to make us look like we're ready to play. Skelton better be ready JIC. OBTW-Time to cut Anderson.

It's official. This season is a rebuilding year, the playoffs have pretty much been written off. Yes, I knew that already but now even the illusion of competing for the playoffs is gone.

Oh well. I'll show up on Sunday and hope for the best.

lol. normally i'd agree with you, but d.anderson wasn't taking us to the playoffs either.

unfortunately i don't see this as a rebuilding year. i don't think an undersized undrafted rookie free agent is our qbof. and there just aren't that many youngsters being groomed on defense. unfortunately i just see this year as a waste. what development are we really going to see?

now THIS post can be targeted as not only OPINION, but perhaps negative. i'll take it. but it is my opinion that this season is, by and large, wasted. perhaps we'll develop some of these young wr's (if they stay healthy) and maybe toler, washington, and williams on defense. but those are the only positives i can see coming from this season.

hall? you'll excuse me if i'm not overly optimistic. how often does an undersized undrafted rookie free agent end up panning out as a star? it may happen, but the odds are stacked against it.

I think this is a pretty good post. Pretty realistic.

It could be worse, he could be Leinart: get cut for Derek freaking Anerson, an undrafted rookie Free Agent, and a rookie 5th round pick.

russ, russ, russ . . . [shaking head]

I may be the only non relative and non Mormon in the world to own him on their fantasy team (-: I just checked and the owner percentage is 0.1, Hasselbeck is 25.1.

I'm not going to argue that this year is going to be a waste, but I will disagree that we aren't developing youngsters on D.

DRC: 24 yrs old
Toler: 25
Campbell: 24
Rashad Johnson: 24
Daryl Washington: 23
Dan Williams: 23
Will Davis: 24

Branch and Watson are only 25 and 27 respectively, as well. I think it's possible that we expected too much too soon from such a young unit.
