The Rich Eisen Podcast can be exquisitely annoying, wearying, and exhausting, but that interview with Mayock is worth the hour.

Doesn't think that any of the quarterbacks should carry a clear first-round grade. Thought last year that Barkley had good enough arm strength but great decision-making, and this year he made baffling choices.

Still likes Te'o as an impact linebacker, and thinks that both the Stanford and Notre Dame TEs are first-round quality.

Isn't as high on the rushers as most, but loves the Oregon kid. Thinks that Ansah has the physical tools of Jason Pierre-Paul, but is far less polished coming out than JPP was (and JPP was really, really, really raw).

All the corners have concerns about long speed; Combine will be telling for this group.

Really likes the QB from Michigan as a slot WR.

I don't remember another pick that seems to be a no brainer Imo. Maybe Peterson.

What makes it NOT a no brainer is that he is a guard. That's pretty high for a non-premium position. Then, if he is that good, and you go to resign him in 4 years, what are you going to give him? $10M.

I agree, he could very well be the BPA at a position of need, but he is still a guard. Guards can be found later. Pass rushers, LTs, QBs not so much. There are no QBs probably, but we are going to have to think long and hard about Fisher or a pass rusher.

Having said all that, I don't think I would be upset with the pick, but it's not a no brainer for me.

The hesitancy I have about Warmack is that he played on a very good line. He may have been the best player on that line, but is the sum greater than the individuals? He is very powerful, but he is not that athletic at 350 pounds. Then there are the rumors about the supplements for that entire team. Scares me to draft with a #7.

Shocker that he likes Teo and pimps Notre Dame players.....

He is too all-over-the-board for me. He rarely gives any more details then a few adjectives about a player. I also know that unlike McShay and Kiper he spends zero time at spring ball or watching these kids....its all tape.

If you look at his stomach the only supplements he's taking are butter and beef. Your first point is the only concern I have. He's in between a few great players on that line but he stands out on film separately from his mates. Or we could just solve that problem by drafting Jones on day 2. ;)

Haven't found him listed at 350 anywhere, and he's athletic enough to pull and hit someone at the second level. Ask Te'o.

Just take him and quit worrying. He won't be a bust and we need a running game as much or more than anything if we want to get better. What is to question? No need to make a puzzle out of it. Just take him and enjoy reaping the rewards he will bring us.

Agreed. If he's still there. Which he should be, but we'll see

If he's still there, yes. No doubt. Don't even wait the 15 mins, just take him.

Having said all that, I don't think I would be upset with the pick, but it's not a no brainer for me.

And Adrian Peterson was just a running back.

And Patrick Peterson was just a cornerback.

Warmack is the best player in the draft and you wanna down grade him because of the position he plays?

By that logic the 1st 32 picks should all be QB's regardless if they have the skill set of Max Hall.

What the heck is a "premium" position anyway? If the guy sucks it won't matter where he plays cause he'll be on the bench. Were Charles Rogers and Ryan Leaf "premium" players?

And we are going to worry about what it will cost us to extend his contract if the guy is an All-Pro? Really? Well, I can't tell you what it would cost but I can tell you how much it costs to sign a very average guard in free agency.

It is a position of need on the team, a talent that you are not going to find any where else in the draft and for drafts to come. Not to mention you are not going to find this kind of talent in free agency...ever.

Watch the tape and you will see. He is not an every day talent. And if you really think guards are not important just see what a Larry Allen or Jahri Evans does for an offense.

Hopefully the rest of the league thinks guards are not worth an investment no matter what the talent cause then Warmack will still be there at 7. Which many think he will be but I would not be surprised to see him go top 5.

Like Bobby Massie last year, teams were stupid to pass on him because he was "just a right tackle". How many teams would pay $$$$ for a productive RT right now?

You draft NFL talent when it is there, especially when there is a need for it.

EDIT: Sorry to pound the desk so hard....just very passionate about getting this pick right....well, right in regards to my opinions :D And to be fair, at one point I was so very certain Alan Branch was going to be the next big thing.

Warmack is a freak athlete for that size. Absolute freak. I do not know what these NFL linebackers are going to do if he gets to the 2nd level.

???

Show me a guard that has better athleticism that is 300+.

Quick off the line, agility like I have never seen and gets to the 2nd level easily.

He is and has been my choice. I get the reasoning behind going after Dion Jordan or Jarvis Jones, but I think the offense is the problem and Warmack is the best guy to help fix it.

Lol, watch the Cards pass on a sure fire OL for a runningback . The opposite of Brown/Peterson.

The question really is despite his position, how much of an impact will he make? If he's good enough that he's constantly driving the DL back and routinely blowing people up when he pulls, that's easily going to increase the YPC of any back that runs behind him. Going from a 3.5 YPC team to a 4.0 or 4.5 YPC team would be great and probably improve us more than anyone else in this draft (unless one of the QBs pans out). If he's the best player in this draft, he just might be that good. But that's a big if.
