Did good ol' Pete share some of his sigining bonus with Jordan?

A kid I like who had a monster year is Ryan Moats out of Louisanna Tech. I haven't heard yet whether he's entering the draft seeing he's a Junior, but he's somewhat like Darren Sproles yet extremely powerful and lightning quick. Sproles is another guy I like. What about Dontrell Moore out of New Mexico? Or Ciatrick Faison out of Florida? Alot of potential in this years draft at RB.

When I see Sproles highlights I think of T. Jones highlights.

BTW what happened to the Jones bandwagon that happened at the beginning of the year this year?

I couldnt believe my eyes. Posters were saying we were fools fo rdumping him. How is his stellar year going? Been awfully quiet.

Didn't steal it, I "repackaged" it in a shiny new sentence.

What a complete surprise that guy's been at WR.

Because you don't live in the bay area. He and Gabriel are the reason Tim Brown is a Buc, they knew they had to open up PT for them so they told Tim he wouldn't play much, he got mad, and asked out.

They have a kid from Baylor named Francis who looks promising too, been hurt a lot but fast and shows promise, Carlos Francis, returns kicks too.

I keep saying "what if" mock drafts that have the Raiders taking Fitz or Roy Williams instead of Gallery if they could do it over, they'd either take a QB, or Sean Taylor, their young WR's are coming on so well I doubt they'd take one that high if doing it again.

That said, I bet they consider Mike Williams, he'd fit in well with Curry and Gabriel.

I don;t htink many posters were calling us fools for dumping him, rather that he's revitalized his career; and he has. He looks like a different RB that the guy we had here--he makes people miss, and he actually breaks tackles. The guy we had in AZ would fall to the ground if you looked at him funny. In the second half of last year and this year in Chicago he's finally become the back that he was supposed to be coming out of college.

I don't think we were fools to let him go (because at the time it was the right thing to do), but I sure wish we had him now.

Walter Reyes-Syracuse RB

Another RB that no one has mentioned is Walter Reyes from Syracuse. This kid has played on teams with ABSOLUTELY NO passing game whatsoever. He can get the tough yards & can slither through the smallest of holes. He is dangerous in the open field & has had 3-4 200 yd games during his career. He is another guy who could go in the 1st round, but we could grab him even if we draft after the 20th slot. I really think this guy will be a great pro.

There certainly is a bumper crop this year with the runningbacks. I like all 4 guys listed, but the one who scares me is Cadillac Williams. I see a little bit of Thomas Jones in him (small lower body, too much juking, not lightning fast for someone so small). He is good at a bunch of things but not special at anything other than being very, very shifty. The more I watch Cadillac the more I get leery. Maybe he is terrific, but there is something about his herky jerky running style that just doesn't seem like a good fit for the NFL.

If I was to rate the backs I would probably go:

1. DeAngelo Williams

2. Cedric Benson

3. Ronnie Brown

4. Cadillac Williams

DeAngelo is lightning quick. He is a one cut and go back who has terrific acceleration. Benson plays alot faster than what he is given credit for. I have seen him get the corner a number of times for someone who supposedly lacks speed. He is every bit as fast as Shaun Alexander was coming out of college. I would bet that Benson is the guy who has the most early success in the NFL. He is NFL ready and could step in right away and be a 25-30 carry back. He runs with the authority necessary to be a bigtime NFL back.

Here's what should happen

1. Get a RB out of FA. I don't see a RB thats going to get drafted that isn't a sure thing. Alexander or Benett would be cool. Bennett is injury prone so drafting one in the later rounds makes sense.Of course find your steal, Gore in the 2nd or 3rd maybe.

2. Draft a QB!!! Jones from Arkansas, if available, great arm and poise.

3. Defense......a DT or CB in the first pick

Rolle
Gore
Jones

FA....Benett or Alexander.

I don't think 4 backs will go in the top ten--but the fact that they're being talked about as top-10 talents is encouraging to me. If we pick 12th and one of these guys is sitting there, chances are they're the Best Available Player, right? And that's who we take in the draft, right? So, we draft a RB. Cool.

Oh yeah you're right, well it sounded good anyway.
Still might be an option, but as is noted in other threads, there are a lot of RB otions out there between FA and the draft.

I think speculation is that if he is 4th on the depth chart in Minn, he will be sent packing making him a FA. I don't think any team wants backups making 1st round money...and we already have hit our quota.

Who's to say Jordan doesn't think Kendall is a stupid jackhole?

Anyway, I'm on the DeAngelo Williams bandwagon...

Here's who those 4 guys remind of as current pros
1.Benson-reminds me of Anthony Thomas.A good solid back but not a gamebreaker.
2.Cadillac-Fred Taylor-very talented but injury prone.I can see some bust potential ther but he could also be the best of the group.
3.Ronnie Brown-i haven't seen enough of him but he seems like a do it all knid of big back.A Roget Craig type.
4.DeAngelo Williams-THE CARDINALS #1 PICK, reminds me of Barry Sanders or Ladanian Tomlinson.

BTW,Memphis is playing Bowling Green in the GMAC BOWL.Take the over.

As of right now I like Benson's college career the most, he has been more then consistent with good stats for 4 years now against good competition. His stats are very comparble with DeAngelo the last 2 years even though he played against much lesser competition. They have almost the same rushing yards but DeAngelo has more catches but Benson has far more TD's the last two years. They are both the same size and have the same speed.

But Russ I think you give a very good point in that Benson has been used way to much in that he has started for 4 years instead of Deangelo just 2 years. DeAngelo will have the much longer and productive career when it is all said and done IMO.

Plus it is no secret that Benson Idolizes Ricky Williams, runs like him, same hair, ect. He may not be as crazy as Ricky and probably only idolizes him as a footbal player but still it is a red flag in my book.

So with that DeAngelo gets the slight edge over Benson.

I would rank them as follows:

1. DeAngelo
2. Cedric
3. Ronnie - just as good as Carnell but bigger and less injury history.
4. Carnell - Just to many injuries in his past and is way to skinny for my taste for a 1st round RB.

i'm a big benson fan, but no way does he have the same football speed as deangelo, no way in hell. watched 'em both. no way in hell.

considering his athletic background i don't think it's that big of a surprise. dude has ALWAYS been phenomenal athlete. outta high school he was compared to allen iverson as a two-sport athlete (iverson was also a top qb recruit).

Lamont Jordan.....

Hes about as close to a 'sure thing' as your gonna get and he has virtually no wear and tear on him.

I havent seen the DeAngelo kid but its hard to pass on a sure thing....

Exactly - Cadillac dances around the line too much. Ronnie Brown is the better of the two - just hits the holes hard.
