Per azcardinals.com mendenhall will start. I know ellington only expects x amount touches and plays and etc but ellington is just flat out better than mendenhall and I thought earned the title vs atlanta in comparions to mendenhalls 0-3 yd runs

BA was saying on Sirius--I believe it was Tuesday--that it wasn't just about the injury fear. He said Ellington is one of the few players on offense that can hit the home-run from anywhere on the field and that he wanted to preserve that ability throughout the game, especially in the 4th quarter, and he worried that gassing him too much early would negate that ability. He said he feared it would take the 80 yard TD potential in the 4th quarter and turn it into a 15, 20, 30 yard gain instead. He wants to preserve that fear in the defense for the whole game, he said.

Not crazy about this. Really not crazy about Mendenhall even seeing the field all the much. He's washed up, doesn't practice full time and I fear will lead to a slow start.

Come on,using ellington for just few runs in the first half to preserve Ellington in the 2nd half of the game is a bulls..t., we had to chase opponents 6 times in the fourth quarter in the previous 8 games. he had to call passing plays..and i didnt see ellington got ton of touches in the 4th quarter
I dont like how arians act sometimes,he thinks fans are idiots.
Levi elite cause he just watched him on tape in a couple of matches,i did watch 50 games of Levi
0 autocriticism for the stinky offense, blaming wrs and others

Sigh.

Hit the home run early, and force the other team to play catch up, pin your ears back and force turnovers.

Is it really this hard to figure out?

bingo. I've never understood "as long as he gets more carries" argument simply because what happens at the beginning of games can heavily impact what happens moving forward.

we already start the game in a hole with Pick-Six-Palmer as our QB. Saddling him with Mendencrawl only digs that hole deeper.

Whether we're using Ellington or Mendy - one thing I think we'll see is more running plays; a lot of which will be run directly at Watts or Smitty in order to tire them out and take some sting out of the Houston pass rush.

That's like the argument the rookie year of pp21 of not putting him on punt returns because we need him at corner. Staff played him anyway and he tied records

If I was coach you would see Ellington as the starter period! This in my opinion is BS. He is the best back in camp and the other kid is the second best. Give me a break! I would pay to watch Ellington not Mendy.

Anyone can see Ellington is better. As far as the logic that we need to save him for the 4th, that sounds like poppycock.

We don't want to risk him going 80 yards in the first quarter in case we need him to do that in the fourth quarter.

If what is quoted in this thread is true it doesn't even make the least bit of sense. A defense will respect Ellington's ability to break the game open regardless of how much of a workload he had earlier in the game.

Why Vikings doesnt preserve Adrian Peterson for the 4th quarter,he can be more distruptive considering our coach guru theory.
Just trying to figure out where arians found inspiration for these great analysis

Fans always want now now now but slow down look at the big picture and use some sense. Don't forget this kid is a rookie he's going to hit that wall especially playing the position he plays. You got a young horse you wanna bring him along at a good pace not run him out of the gate till he falls over there's still a ton of football to be played this year. Remember its not who starts its who finishes.

As far as Mendy this guys been playing hurt all year. I'll give him credit for that. That deserves respect.

Explain to me exactly what wall Adrian Peterson hit in his rookie year? Or Chris Johnson? You go with what you have. This is like saying in baseball, I won't pitch my ace until we're in an elimination game.
