Christmas list.

The guy just destroyed him on ESPN. Comments to the effect that he was a horrible 1st rounder, much less the 3rd overall pick. Doesn't have the ability to be a QB. Said the Titans are getting rid of Volek because they have a better chance to win with Collins and can't afford to dump Young now.

Really brutal, but did point out many of the things I hated about Young from day one.

Who's Merrill?

Young only directed two TD drives this afternoon. Of course it was against Green Bay. 40year could lead a TD drive against that defense.

Merrill Hoge, so consider the source.

It was way too harsh, way too soon. Even if he turns out to be 100% correct.

Well then that's nothing but a message board post that's on TV instead of the internet.

Vince Young was not NFL ready coming out of Texas and we all know it. He needs time. Let him have it. The guy is an uncanny athlete.

Leinart is the most NFL ready, IMO...followed very closely by Cutler.

Right now none of three are starting...by mid-season, they all might be. Then let's see what the early results are.

Vince Young finished the Preseason with a QB rating of about 67. Leinart 95, Cutler 105.

Ok, everybody and their mother knew that Young was going to be a 2 year developmental project at the MINIMUM.

No I'm not a fan of his but let's view this from the point that Young came from an offense that's about as far from Protype as possible (unless it's the two minute drill).

I do admit that Cutler has suprised me. I thought he was just a combine riser. In the preseason he's been great and there are few better places for him to get drafted. Denver has a QB friendly system.

Leinart also missed all but what 10 practices, one full pre-season game and got hurt right with a quarter and a half left. I'll take Leinart over the both of them any day.

I find myself thinking that Young may be just a slightly better version of Michael Vick. He's a better passer, but I have to believe that unless he corrects that funky delivery, he may never get to be a really solid passer.

I know it's way too early to tell, so I'll sit back and watch. But "projects" like this, it seems to me, more often than not, don't reach expectations.

Have I mentioned how happy I am that Leinart fell to us? :)

There is a lot of bias involved in these opinions about players. If someone just doesn't like a guy they only see the negatives in their play and vice versa.

Just this morning the AP guy writing about the Tenn. game:

A sure sign of poise from a rookie quarterback: Vince Young even lobbies for instant-replay calls like a veteran.

Young was impressive in his first exhibition start for the Tennessee Titans consistently turning third downs into first downs in a 35-21 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Friday afternoon.

Which perfectly illustrates duckjake's point. People are basing their evaluation of his play in preseason more on their draft analysis than his actual performance.

I didn't think he was either impressive or really crappy.

These are great numbers............for a rookie running back who has attempted 2 HB passes.

I think its safe to say that the Bronco's and Card's offenses are light years ahead of the Titans and it has nothing to do with Young's ability. Last year with McNair and Volek as QBs, their leading rusher had 800 yards. And there three leading recievers consisted of Drew Bennett with 58 rec, and two TE's with 55. Not exactly an offense made to show off the abilities of a raw rookie QB.

Young may turn out to be a bust, but you'll hate him even if he turns out to be a HOF'r.

Vince Young reminds me of the most overrated QB in the league....Michael Vick. Great Athlete, but not a great QB.

Not a great stereotype of a Pro Style Quarterback.

A great QB is simply one who wins consistently over a period of years. If Vick or Young win games nobody who cheers for their teams will care how the Q's threw the ball or if they could read defenses.

Fans of other teams will still bash them and say it was the defense or the running game or luck that actually won the games. That's just the nature of fans.
