As a 5-seed in the South region of the NCAA Tournament, Michigan basketball got one of the tougher draws in all of March Madness. And the tough just got a bit tougher -- the road certainly doesn't get easier.

After beating 12-seed UC San Diego on Thursday and 4-seed Texas A&M on Saturday, the Wolverines are now set to face the top-seed in the region, now that 1-seed Auburn has taken down 8-seed Creighton. The maize and blue will square off against the Tigers in the Sweet 16 at the State Farm Center in Atlanta on Friday evening, with tipoff time yet to be disclosed. The winner of that game will progress to the Elite Eight.

For a stretch of the regular season, Auburn was ranked the No. 1 team in the country but fell off in the final weeks, much like Michigan had. It comes in ranked No. 4 overall in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll and has a 28-5 record. The Tigers are also ranked No. 4 via KenPom with the second-best offense and 13th-ranked defense. The Wolverines are 19th according to KenPom after beating the Aggies on Saturday.

This will be the second straight game for Michigan basketball against an SEC team (the conference that put 14 of its 16 teams into the NCAA Tournament) and third game overall against Auburn. The Wolverines and Tigers are 1-1 against each other.
