Sprained ankle sidelines Mihm

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- The slumping Los Angeles Lakers placed center Chris Mihm on the injured list Tuesday because of a sprained right ankle, and activated center Vlade Divac.

Mihm sprained his ankle late in the second quarter of Saturday night's 95-94 loss at San Antonio. He will miss at least five games starting Tuesday night at Phoenix.

Mihm is averaging 9.6 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.49 blocked shots in 24.9 minutes per game. All are career highs.

The Lakers signed the 37-year-old Divac last summer, but he has played in only eight games because of back problems, averaging 0.8 points and 1.1 rebounds.

Divac had been on the injured list since Dec. 22, and underwent microsurgery Jan. 6 to repair a herniated disk in his back. He was first injured during an offseason workout.

The Lakers had lost 11 of 12 and brought a 33-40 record into Tuesday night's game.

The Lakers are dropping like flies!
We should be good sports and lend them Paul Shirley tonight.:)

They really couldn't have picked a worse way to be "officially" out of the playoffs. By getting blown out by a team they wish they had. I'm really setting myself up for a disappointment here. But The symbolism of this game will make more of a story to the sportswiters and ESPN than any of our impressive wins.
Sort of like a passing of the torch, except they no longer have a torch to pass. :D

I think they're intentionally tanking the season at this point to get a better pick. You really can't blame them. But it sure is nice to see the Lakers fall.

lol, how long will divac last tonight before he collapses? Bringing him back against the Suns doesn't sound like a great idea.

I'd be very surprised if Kobe played. If he does, it'd be just so he can come off as a "guy who just wants to play basketball." There's no reason for him to play at this point in the season unless he feels healthy.
