If he was hearing from a source within the organization that the Cards were considering promoting Horton, why didn't he come out and say that?

Lately the Cards have been using the media to send a lot of cryptic messages to people on the team. Boldin, Fitz contract negotiations and recently with the preseason QB battle between Skelton and Kolb. I remember some "unnamed" sources throw digs at Kolb to show a message.

Heads up coming up next after this commercial on XTRA 910 MJ will discuss what he's learned about Horton and the Cardinals.

If you have a smartphone you can download the iheartradio app and listen that way.

There is friction in the organization (not within the Bidwill family). Michael isn't happy with the disaster on the field. Graves usually has been the the point person for the Bidwills. I can see conflict between the MB/Graves tandem and Whisenhunt on who should be the starting qb. Make no mistake about it this is getting ugly.

MJ can see the possibility of the Cards buying out Whisenhunt's last year. He didn't believe that earlier this year.

"His lack of being able to evaluate a QB is going to cost him his job, whether its this year or next year."

You have people in the media and fans openly questioning his integrity and wondering if he's tanking on purpose to lose his job. This is getting real ugly.

more from Jurecki:

the issue is this:

FO will likely want staff changes -- but- what OC can you lure here when the HC has one year left on his deal?

further -- what free agents can you lure here when the HC has one year left on the deal?

so-- What Jurecki is saying is that he is hearing that the Cardinals are considering eating the $5.5 mm owed Whis

5.5 million is all it would be to buy him out? Didn't we build them a stadium so they can afford that?

something to consider:

team retains 100% of Club seat and Suite revenue

$5.5 million is the equivalent of 2,750 club seats for one season

they may feel like if they dont make a change -- they lose $5.5 million anyway in lost seat sales.

View from the press box: The elevator carrying Cardinals officials, including team President Michael Bidwill, opened at the same time as one carrying a load of reporters to the postgame news conferences. Bidwill looked grim as he walked to the Cardinals locker room. He politely declined comment on the team’s eight-game losing streak.

Granted, it wasn't $5.75 million, but didn't they eat the last year of DG's contract.

Got this on a goggle search

Green was fired on Monday, one day after the Cardinals concluded a 5-11 season with a 27-20 loss at San Diego. He finished with a 16-32 record at Arizona. The Cardinals will pay $2.5 million to buy out the final year of his contract.

here's my big issue with the above... who the hell gives a CRAP what the FO wants. They should be blown out the door with Wiz.

lameduck Coach, coming off a 12 game losing streak, making us a laughingstock again = crap.

Happens all the time. Happened with Carroll in Seattle. Happened with Gruden in Tampa Bay (IIRC). I think Kubiak was hired in Houston after Casserly was on his way out the door. Happened with Shanahan in Washington.

Def doesn't happen all the time. Didn't happen with Kubiak/Casserly and both the Redskins and Bucs were widely criticized for being ass-backwards in their methods.

The team will probably "Cardinal" this too.

I can totally see the Cardinals going back to hiring cheap, inexperienced head coaches and then being confused why it isn't working out and start the same process again in three years. Like it or not, that is what it would be if the Cardinals fire Whis for Horton who highest level of coaching has been two years as a defensive coordinator with the Caridnals and has zero head coaching experience at any level. This reeks of hiring Wade Phillips and Norv Turner. Great coordinators who have little to no success as actual head coaches. Why do coaches like Jim Harbaugh and Greg Schiano work out so well at first? Because they have actual experience doing the job they are hired to do and are not asked to learn on the fly.

Wow MJ and Bickley addressing a caller who wanted Graves gone noted this:

When Whisenhunt renegotiated his contract he negotiated for power of the 53 man roster and power of his coaching staff, meaning Graves had very little if any say in matter regarding the roster and coaching staff and only one guy took responsibility with overseeing the QB situation: Whisenhunt. They also slammed him for not bringing in Arians or Haley as OC.

Left field prediction:

Horton gets named HC.

Whiz gets bumped upstairs in an attempt to get some use out of that $5 mil they'd owe him.

Graves gets a lovely gift basket on his way out the door.

Let the howling commence.

(And sometime tomorrow 9-0 gets his phone returned to him.)

If you are going to muck it, don't half ass it. Scrap the whole thing and get a young guy like David Shaw and let him work it out. He at least has more head coaching experience than Ray Horton.

When was the last time Jurecki was right on anything? Didn't he already have his #18 jersey ordered this past off season?

We don't know what goes on behind the scenes. Whiz is in charge of the QB situation, which I can easily see, he gets Manning to come into town to visit, Graves, in charge of contracts, offers Peyton a $5 mill contract with incentives.

We don't know. Graves ridiculously let Warner visit SF after leading the team to the SB. Whiz playing Lindley may be big F you to Graves. Maybe Manning was ready to come here until he saw the contract parameters. I doubt it, but then again, it wouldn't surprise me one bit either.

Seeing as the Bidwills saved over $5M on the cap this year (last I heard they were $7M under the cap)---they sure as tooting can apply that money to buying out the HC.

seeing as they have their own stadium, sell it out every game and make more money than god regardless of all that due to revenue sharing and the billions the NFL makes, they sure as tooting can apply that money to buying out the HC as well.

this isn't the SDS days.

"sellout" is just eye candy. Thats the cheap seats which is all that is counted. The big money are IE club and luxury boxes are almost empty and the only area that the Bidwills get to keep 100% of the revenue in releation to ticket sales.

So why they may be "sold out" they clearly arent rolling in the dough as they should. Clearly their fault though since they havent done enough to fill those seats.

Fwiw: Jurecki simply referred to "the Cardinals"

That could be Mike by himself. Could be Mike and Rod.

I will add one more thing: Mike made a point of bringing Jason Licht back to the org this past offseason. The team put him on a pre- season pregame show--

Figuring out the power structure of the Cardinals can be a little like discerning North Korean politics by seeing who is in what picture and how close to Kim Jong they stand.

I guess my point is that they didn't bring him back and kinda pimp his hire for nothing.

It's sounding like this could be the beginning of the end. Jurecki is insinuating there is building friction between the Cardinals and Whisenhunt.

Which is what probably 90% of the fan base wants & most of them want Horton as its HC

Who the heck believes anything that comes out of Jurecki's mouth?? I mean really? The guy is easily wrong more than he is right.
