This move is just to satisfy the other Rooney Rule which states that the Cardinals must at least consider someone with ties to Pittsburgh for ANY open position.

:D

I think this is the somewhat lesser known part of the Rooney rule where you're also required to interview a jerk.

No, its the new "Looney Rule". At least one candidate must be developmentally disabled.

I'm concerned frankly. You don't fire Whis unless you have an upgrade. And all I see are a lot of ifs, maybes, and buts.

Welcome to the Cardinal franchise!! This is exactly why firing Whiz was an abomination. Fire the guy that had more playoff wins than our previous 50 HC's combined! Makes perfect sense. We deserve whatever we get. Meanwhile, we'll watch Whiz get to the playoffs on a regular basis. Most of you can stop bitching now. This is what you wanted.

I hope we can do better than someone who played golf in college.

Ken Whisenhunt
Before this Augusta native coached a Super Bowl team, he knew golf was in the cards

golfmix caught up with Arizona Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt. Coach Whisenhunt, an avid golfer, shared his favorite courses, what he looks for in a course, and the challenge of squeezing rounds into the busy life of an NFL head coach.

"I went into his garage one time and he has like 15 sets of clubs, at least," says Rob Brakel, the Cardinals video director and regular member of Whisenhunt's foursome.

If Haley is hired as the coach, forget the Cardinals.

Hahaha

First of all Haley hasn't been named anything yet.

Second of all Whisenhunt hasn't even been named a HC yet, and frankly I'm not sure he will be.

Third of all the three places Whisenhunt has the greatest chance of going to is BUF, SD and CLE. BUF and CLE are a bigger mess than the Cards are and Whisenhunt would have to ahem "coach up" a QB in those two places. Who knows what he would do in SD, but I guarantee you those three teams will not be a playoff team anytime soon under Whisenhunt.

The wild card for him is Carolina and I would pay good money to watch him "fix" Cam Newton.

You better hope you're right, otherwise I'll be serving you crow on a regular basis. Be sure you maintain a healthy appetite my friend!

Whatever I don't care who the next HC is, it will be immediately evident that the Cardinals are better off without Whisenhunt, even if it is Todd Haley.

When our next HC takes us to a Super Bowl, only then will you have room to talk.

Yeah ok, in that case only when Whisenhunt takes his next team (if there is one) to the Super Bowl will you have room to talk.

If he's hired in Cleveland or Buffalo and takes them to the playoffs they'll give him the key to the city. He might as well interview for the Detroit O.C. position. Those three are the trifecta of futility.

As long as the new coach wins more than 18 of the Cards next 48 games I'll be happy.

18-30. Really? I'll take a bet you won't be.

We just went 18-30 with Whisenhunt. So I don't get what you are trying to say. Are you confused and thinking I wrote I'd be happy with 18-30 like you were with CKW?

Dude, you need to provide an ice pack when dropping a burn like that.

If the guy can win 4 playoff games, 2 NFC West Division titles, an NFC Championship & go to a SB, then by all means he can then go 18-30. I'll grant him the benefit of the doubt.

Are you still talking about toast? At what point do you move on? He isn't coming back. If toast was so great he would still be here. Toast had plenty of time to show that he was the guy for the job and he didn't assert himself. It's time to move on.

Ugh Jurecki just said "thinking out loud" the perfect scenario would be to keep Horton as DC and make Haley HC. I hope that's not true.
