I think cheesebeef and PA are both right. Yes, Whis will excel with another's talent and then he will go down hill by slowly eroding the talent given him. I'm in the same train of thought as K9, Whis is a good coach that goes downhill when acquiring talent due to having too much control over personnel. If Whis would turn over the power of player personnel to a higher source better suited for judging this factor, he is great as a head coach.

"great"? I don't know man... I think with the right talent Whiz is a good HC, but come on guys... I think just because we're Cardinals fans blurs our objectivity in a huge way. His best two seasons were 9-7 and 10-6 and that came while playing in the most abysmal division in football. That's playoff pretender material. We had one incredible run, that was aided by a quirk in the rules where the worst team in the playoffs somehow had home-field advantage in 2 of 3 games.

He definitely has a problem developing/identifying offensive talent... and for an offensive football coach, that's a problem.

I agree Cheese, Even in his two winning seasons he was only 19-13 which isn't anything to write home about and the team was absolutely blown out in several games during that time. As you said the team also had the luxury of playing in the worst division in the NFL during those winning years.

The team got hot just as the playoffs began and they made a run to the SB. Was it magical YES, was it a recipe for long term success NO!

I thought this thread was about Haley? For all of Whis's faults listed on this thread they just about all apply to Haley as well. The differences of course being that Whisenhunt doesn't torch his former employers on his way out.

Stubborness: check
Ego-driven: check
Overpay for bad QB: check
Losing Record as Head Coach: check
Atrocious personnel history: check

Yup. They hire Haley as coach, and I'll drop my season tickets which I've had since 1994.

My main hope is Bidwill was just fixated on interviewing a minimum of three candidates, and when Reid cancelled his visit here, he turned to the next on the list. Since he wasn't contacted immediately, Haley can't be at the top of the list.

ha... way to just PUNT on the systematic take down of your argument. and time may tell how wrong I am, but here's the thing... I don't care about being right or wrong. I just want the team to win. If the Cardinals are successful moving forward, will it matter if Wiz is successful somewhere else?

Your last sentence is dead on. If the Cardinals are successful moving forward, then it won't matter what Whiz is doing elsewhere. Unless our success is defined by wild card 1st round losses & Whiz is going to SB's. Otherwise, I'll concede.
