PA, I've always enjoyed you here at ASFN but, what possible light at the end of the tunnel did you possibly see by retaining Whisenhunt? If the guy can win 4 playoff games, 2 NFC West Division titles, an NFC Championship & go to a SB, then by all means he can then go 18-30. I'll grant him the benefit of the doubt.
If Michael is thinking that, this family really needs to sell this team
Let it play out. Unless any of us are fortune tellers or time travelers we don't know how ANY hire, whether Haley, Horton, or Jesus as HC, and Moses as OC would work out.
I'm starting to get a real bad feeling that Haley is going to be the HC. I think this is more than appeasing a friend or doing due diligence.
I'm a fortune teller
& been sayin Horton from the start
You really think they will make a decision that will have a dramatic impact on the future of the franchise just to appease a friend? Come on. Haley isn't some golf buddy. He was the OC of this team during one of the offense's greatest runs and parlayed that into a HC gig in KC where he took that mess to a 10 win season. Upon leaving KC after feuding with Pioli, a guy who may be unemployed any minute now, he was hired by Pitt. Warner likes him, as does Fitzgerald. Interviewing Haley is due diligence, especially if Keim is going to be the GM.
What is kind of funny about Cards fans, or fans in general, is it seems no decision is ever a good decision. Reid is great, but just as many hate Reid. When Kurt Warner was signed I remember the Josh McCown fan club's fury. The team is clearly in a no win situation until the hire produces victories but I really don't get the criticism so far.

We can't keep Whisenhunt solely based on what he did and 3 or 4 seasons is an enterinty in the NFL.
At some point decisions have to be made based on what a HC is doing and not only did Whis have this team on a severe downward spiral but he was starting to lose the lockerroom, consistently failed to develop the offense, and was loathe to make impactful changes on the weakest part of the team.
The ONLY problem I had with Whiz was his loyalty to Grimm. Massive injuries this year derailed at least a 10 win season. Who could have predicted that Levi Brown would get hurt. He had NEVER been hurt. The organization drafted Ryan Williams in the 2nd round & had to give him the benefit of the doubt that he'd stay healthy this year. Our FA OL pickups were attrocious, but that's more on Graves than on Whisenhunt. I disagree that he lost this team. He rallied the troops last year to finish strong & set up a nice playoff run this year. Did we need QB help? Yes, but who was available? No one. They had committed money to Kolb & still had to trust that he was capable of staying somewhat healthy. The Bidwill's were not ready to move away from Kolb. He was actually decent when we started 4-0. On top of that, Skelton at least had shown an ability last year to win, albeit ugly at times. Even if Kolb got injured, Skelton should have performed better than he did. He was far more pathetic than anyone could have expected. Do you really think Whiz had ANY expectation that Lindley would have to play this year? Absolutely not.
If Whiz had not already proven what he could do by winning 2 NFC West titles, I would have absolutely, positively said it was time to move on. I've been following this franchise for 50 years. Other than possibly Coryell, Whiz was the best HC we'd had. He deserved 1 more year to fix this. Now, if he wouldn't agree to let Grimm go, I understand the firing. As most people on this board understand, our ownership has been pathetic over the decades. Everyone has higher hopes for Michael, but who has he learned from? He only knows the Bidwill way. I've seen the Cardinals fire good HC's just when we were about to turn the corner. Whisenhunt is a very solid HC & will win wherever he goes. I've been around a long time & watched a lot of football over the years. This decision will haunt us. I just know it!

Yeah Whisenhunt's 18-30 over the his last 48 is so much worse than Haley's 19-26 before he got canned.Whatever I don't care who the next HC is, it will be immediately evident that the Cardinals are better off without Whisenhunt, even if it is Todd Haley.

you're right... no one could have predicted Levi would get hurt... but ANYONE could have predicted Ryan Williams, Beanie Wells, Todd Heap and Kevin Kolb WOULD get injured. And that's who Wiz wanted to go to war with.
It was on both. and why would you give Williams, a guy who had major injury problems in high school, college and pro the benefit of the doubt that he'd stay healthy? You'd have to be pretty ignorant (to use your favorite word) to believe that.
We lost 3 of our last 4 games by 58, 15 and 14 points. Defensive players were talking about playing for their DC alone, offensive players were talking about auditioning for other teams. None of that sounds like a team that a coach still has.
BS and has been proven to be BS countless times. Just in the draft alone in the last two years we've seen the likes of Dalton, Kaepernick, Wilson be available to us and we passed. We could have signed Alex Smith, Flynn or Hasselbeck. All passed and why?
Oh yeah... here's why... the "ignorant" idea that again, the team had to trust that a guy who was ALWAYS injured was capable of staying healthy. You throw around the term idiots and ignorant about a lot of us pretty often, yet you're the one who keeps defending the moves that only an idiot couldn't see coming from a mile away. And the bottom line was Kolb was Wiz's guy and it was a disaster. Plain and simple. He made the big move to get him and it failed.
doesn't matter what he looks like for any of amount of time when you KNOW he'll be missing the majority of time due to injuries.
He did in 2007 & 2008.It may require Jesus to fix our offense.
Bottom Line, we'll wait & see what Whiz does for ANOTHER team & compare that to where the Cardinals are. Time will tell just how wrong you are! Take it to the bank.

You don't care about being right or wrong yet you are quick to point out how you will "serve a big pile of crow" when you are right. What's more is you mention it more than once.
