IF Williams comes out, I say you trade whatever it takes to move to number one and take him.

He says he's coming out and ESPN is reporting it.

I'm all over Eli, but not to trade up.

I wouldn't trade up for Vick.

But Mike Williams is going to be a name that 50 years from now people will be talking about in glowing tones "this year's MVP is great, but he couldn't hold Mike Williams' jock."

Seriously...this guy is that good.

We're pretty much on target to now pick up Eli Manning though, so for a consolation prize I guess that's pretty good.

I covet Mike Williams though.

Williams is the X-factor that will allow either Fitzgerald or Rothelisberger (whom I still feel is Green's primary target) to fall to the Cards or allow them to trade down.

We will get an impact player at the #3 spot so we don't have to trade up for him.

I understand this argument when you are talking "impact players" but to label MW as an impact player is selling the guy short.

As someone posted on the other thread, this guy will make Randy Moss look like Bryan Gilmore. But seriously, this is a once in a decade kind of player.

This guy isn't only the best player available; he's the best player that will come out at this position for a long, long, long time.

Yeah, but even then. There's a lot of risk with WRs in general. You're going to get a chance to get an IMPACT player anyway. By giving up your second (and probably third) round pick to move up two spots, you lose the chance at maybe TWO impact players and probably another solid starter.

I would have traded up one spot for Vick when we took Big, but only with our first and third. That second-round choice is just too important to a team so bad.

Until he suits up and produce and accomplish what Moss has done ( whatever that is ) I'll hold on the prediction he is better than Moss.

I wouldn't move from #3.

Here's what happens at number 3:
If you want a WR, you'll get it.
If you want a QB, you'll get it.
If you want a S, you'll get it.
If you want a DE, you'll get it.
If you want a DT, you'll get it.

Take the best available at any of those positions and you get a great player--and you keep whatever crazy price SD will be asking.

I would work our pick next year, not this year's 2nd.

I of course, go off the assumption that we will be a better team next season with draft pick in the teens.

So, a swap of picks, next year's number one and maybe a 3rd or 4th. But I'd protect this year's second rounder in any trade scenario; it is essentially a first rounder, or at least as close as you can get.

I would deffinately trade up for Williams as I believe he is hands down the best player in the draft, but that being said I wouldnt mind trading down and picking up additional picks as this seems to be the deepest draft in a long time... especially from the skill positions...

You won't get the #1 with that. Not if SD wants Williams.

You'd probably have to give up most of your draft to get Williams. You don't think that someone like Atlanta wouldn't give up their ENTIRE draft to get Williams and Vick together for the next 5 years? If I were Blank, I'd do it.

If I were SD, the offers would start with this year's #1 and #2 and next year's.

Heck yeah. I think you're right. Someone's probably going to pull a Mike Ditka and go golfing after they shake hands with Williams at the podium.

I just hope it's not Denny Green.

The Pats might do it since they have like 7 picks in the first day.

Very likely. They have a lot to give.

True but they are solid all around they might not also might not do it since they don't want to pay the #1 money. Who knows.

No trades for #3. We can't lose unless we do.

Isn't it ironic, that David Boston could be the reason the Chargers STAY at #1 to get a franchise receiver. Ha ha.

I don't think so. I wouldn't do it with the Pats if I were the Chargers. They still need an impact player on the D-line or O-line. They don't want to trade out of the Top 5 or Top 7.

I don't think the Pats would do it because I'm not sure that Williams fits the Pats' profile.

He's faster than Fitz, too. And hands that exude natural stick'em, like Spiderman.

The guy is a stud. Mike Williams:Randy Moss; Randy Moss:Bryan Gilmore.
