Warm body, I suppose. Could do much worse. Talbot Denny had a scholarship on this team.

I highly doubt Miller uses all 13 of his scholarships this go around. When Arizona recruits like Arizona again, this guy will get pushed down the depth chart, or he'll develop into a rotation player.

If the story out now is true you guys are going to have to switch from hating Schlabach, to hating Kyle Bonaguara(ESPN) and Dan Wetzel. Both of them are saying the new superseding indictment out today against James Gatto and Dawkins implicates new players including Dennis Smith JR(we already knew) and Josh Jackson( we already knew).

The key is that in the story about Jackson, it says Adidas paid the mom Apple Jones 90K to get Josh to go to Kansas, and paid another 20K to get her out of a previously negotiated deal with a rival shoe company to send him to a different school. That shoe company is believed to be Nike, and the school is believed to be Arizona.

note, nothing in the indictment that's public so far says Kansas knew Adidas was paying the mom to get Jackson, or that Arizona knew Nike had paid her to get him either.

Note in the stuff Yahoo leaked awhile back that had the spreadsheets and stuff in it, both of these stories were referenced somewhat, that Jackson's mom had been paid and was actually being paid by 2 shoe companies at one point. So this is more detail on a story that was leaked to yahoo awhile ago

The filing says 6 players, we know 4 of them, Smith Jr, Jackson, Bowen and Nassir Little. It's not clear if Little is actually counted though because the indictment says the parents got money and we know that the AAU coach said he pocketed the payment for Little and the family never got any money. So we might only know 3.

The innuendo seems to be one of the other 3 players might Silvio DeSousa who went to Kansas, and another one is Lonnie Walker who picked Miami(over Arizona in a big surprise).

The way the indictment is written there were 6 players paid to go to one of 4 schools, Miami, Louisville, Kansas or NC State but it's not clear if all 6 players went to one of those schools(which would eliminate nassir Little) or not.

The reason we hate Schlabach is because of inaccurate reporting, not because of the allegation. If Bonaguara et al are correct, so be it, but I have great reason to doubt that Jackson had a financial arrangement with Arizona.

What's odd is many of the players involved are kids that Miller was recruiting. Walker, Jackson, Bowen, Little, etc. None made it to Arizona despite at one time or another, being heavy leans to UofA.

Either way, the net is being cast wider, and it's going to be very hard for the NCAA to simultaneously punish all of these schools. The more schools that get implicated in the investigation, the better it is for Arizona.

EDIT:

Sounds like it wasn't Josh Jackson, but rather, De Sousa and Preston

Miller will take the first commit, so if Williams wants to play at the UofA, I would think he would commit before Akinjo visits.

Yeah the Schlabach story doesn't agree with what Bonaguara said, he clearly said Jackson was involved and that the 90 and 20 to buy a player out was to Apple Jones. if it's actually to DeSousa, then the other school is Maryland, not Arizona which is good news for you guys although again it's not clear the schools knew that Adidas was doing this stuff. That's why Kansas's press release says they were named as a victim.

You sort of knew more was going on with Preston than just the car.

Reading more it sounds like both of them are wrong. It sounds like Preston got 90K to go to Kansas from Adidas ,and Adidas paid 20K to get DeSousa out of an agreement to go to Maryland having been paid by Under Armour. The indictment specifically says Adidas went to great lengths to hide the deals from kansas.

I can see why Bonaguara assumed it was Jackson since Yahoo has already said his mom got paid by 2 different agents or shoe companies, but the dates were wrong he was a year before this happened.

And I'm just guessing but I bet Kansas suspending Preston over the car was actually a cover story because they figured out his mom had been paid by someone and they suspended him over that waiting for the evidence to come out. It never made sense it took them that long to figure out where the car came from, either there was no car, or it came from money his mom got from Adidas.

Miller would take both if he could get them. I don’t think Williams is quite ready to make a decision

I think Akinjo committing would all but assure Williams to Oregon or somewhere else. He loves Arizona but I think at this point he’s looking for reasons not to come here. With Troy Brown going pro Williams would nearly be assured a starting spot on the best team in the PAC next year. When Williams visited ASU and scheduled a visit to Gonzaga I kinda felt he moved on and Arizona knew it but Miller is still trying.

Akinjo moved his OV up to this weekend and it looks like it's a fight between Georgetown and Arizona.

Scheer said Miller met with Brandon and his step dad Monday night. He said Williams had a good asu visit but still believes it's between Oregon and the UofA. He also said FGCU transfer Zach Johnson last visit will be to the UofA.

Apparently, Miller can go visit Williams whenever he wants because he has financial papers and a deposit to Arizona. What Scheer said on the radio today was that Miller will basically meet with Williams after each one of his visits. Sounds kind of creepy and desperate, but whatever it takes I suppose.

I’m using Tapatalk to view this right now. I love how this thread has a picture of those 2 Sandusky loving idiots for a cover photo.

Will arizona pursue David Grace?

Lute actually helped him get his first jobs, at Sac State and then at another school.

Sounds like Grace is taking shots at Alford on the way out...

Yeah it's a weird way to go out for a guy who's been trying to get a HC job for 3 years and can't get hired.

I have no idea if Alford lied to him or not but making it public probably won't help him get his next job.

Grace is in a weird situation anyways the vast majority of his recruiting prowess was tied to one program, the Compton Magic, and USC just hired Mobley who is one of the Compton Magic coaches and closely tied to their best prospects(2 of them are his sons). My guess is Grace's pipeline was going to be shut off or at least constricted anyways.

I think it's a move of a guy who knows he has one more year at UCLA, a VERY young team(8 first year players), and that he needs another experienced coach more than he needs a recruiter.

I really like these two pick-ups. Now if Miller can persuade Williams to pick the Cats over the Ducks, the UofA will have a top-5 team in the Pac-12.
