I really hope Miller is able to keep Geary on the staff. Geary has the west coast ties and is passionate about restoring Arizona's Basketball image. But if he wants to go with his own people that's fine too.

Supposedly Geary isn't very well-liked around the AD. Reggie seems ok and I appreciate him putting his neck on the line by continuing to recruit this year without any assurances as to his future. But if we can land Solomon Hill without him I'd just as soon see Miller get the choice of his own assistants.

Book Richardson is supposedly in per Xavier people which will open up a NE pipeline.

Sorry, Arizona with a proven coach in place recruits itself.

I wonder if Kevin Parrom a 4-star SF who committed to Miller will leave Xavier and come here. Also Miller got a commitment from 4-star PF Jordan Latham in his 2010 class, will he follow Miller?

As for Hill it seems like he always had U of A on his mind after all Geary is still on board, lets see if we can get some recruits in this year. Hill would be Chase's replacement.

With Richardson likely to join Miller's staff I think its very likely Parrom follows Miller to Tucson.

If Geary remains on the staff I think Miller can pretty much wrap up Solomon Hill. Without Geary im sure Miller still has a good shot to land Hill, but I would say its better with Geary on board.

It appears so according to this blog.

It also mentions he'll bring three top 100 recruits with him including Parrom this year. This recruiting thing should shake out more starting later this week, I'd anticipate some kids scheduling visits between now and signing day.

My favorite part of the hiring yesterday was when they were asking Doug Gottlieb about it on ESPN. He said the team most hurt by this hiring was..........ASU.

Even though I was very against Floyd coming here, it would be sweet to see us take away a player from him after his "wanting to create his USC into a powerhouse" speech..
I loathe Tim Floyd and was completely against him coming here. But I'll always be eternally grateful for him playing Jim Livengood like a tune to try and get a leg up on the competition in the Pac-10.

I really want Miller to take Sol Hill from him and get this started right. Hill is a multi-faceted player with NBA talent who is going to hang around a few years so you can build a program around him. He'd be huge for Arizona.

What hurts ASU the most is James Harden and Pendergraph going to the NBA and Sendek bombing his 2008 recruiting class. Having a terrific recruiter in Tucson won't help though. Herb will keep doing his thing like he did at State - putting fans to sleep, finishing in the middle of the conference, and getting bounced in the first weekend of the Tournament just about every year.

I think you are correct about this.

Any notes from the presser? Or anywhere I can watch it archived? (The Arizona one.)

After watching the presser on FSNAZ I'm really excited about UA Hoops. I liked the fact that he said he won't just fill out the roster with marginal guys, he'll be very selective in his recruiting even though the team is talent depleted. Welcome Coach Miller!!!!

I agree, too many coaches when they walk into a rebuilding situation just recruit guys because there's a lack of warm bodies. Miller says he'll only recruit players if he thinks they'll help win Pac-10 championships.

I'm so excited that we got Sean Miller, moreso every time I hear him speak. Other than Cal, I think we got the best HC candidate in the country. I think he is going to be a perfect fit at UA.

Another thing I personally enjoyed about the presser is that the two biggest topics of conversation were the money involved and the tradition of Arizona Basketball. I was told by people on this board those two things didn't matter in a coaching search but apparently they do.

The more I read about this guy the more stoked I get.

I love Josh but I hope Miller is here for the long haul. I am interested to see how he starts recruiting right off the bat as we would seem to be in on Rudd, Hill, and the russian center from Florida. But that class might rest on Geary beong kept on the staff and from all indications Miller wants to do this his way. I would like to have some Wildcat tradition kept in place but like Wisenhunt I will give him the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise.

The playing time and keeping the streak alive should be good selling points.

I also like Fogg to get alot better and if you were going to have a senior at a position it would be PG with Wise.

Maybe I am myopic but I want to make a run for #26 and then the record should be in hand.

We need A LOT of help to make it #26 especially in the frontcourt and on the wing. And all this assuming Nic doesn't hear good news from the NBA people. Not going anywhere without him no matter how good we recruit over the next few weeks.

Does anyone know if Richardson is in, if so he can bring in Parrom and maybe Weatherspoon plus Latham in 2010.

I think its "bird in hand" that Richardson will be on the staff if it hasn't been announced officially yet.

He's not a candidate for the Xavier role or anywhere else and Miller has been apparent he wants his own people.
