I guess the good news in drafting Bradley at No. 7 is you're already obligated to bring 7 figures to the table. It's not like you're expecting to get a player on the cheap with that pick.

His first love is baseball so if they give him the right offer he will sign.

I don't think anyone having a giant draft party with 50 or so friends and jumping out of his seat when drafted has any intention other than "Playing Baseball"

This is the best draft the D-Backs could realistically get. One note on Bradley. He is a high school guy who plays football. That means we can spread his bonus out over 6 years instead of the normal 5. He becomes 'cheaper' because the bonus is less each year.

Bradley was tearing up on his MLBTV interview. He was all smiles and red cheeks.

After that interview with Bradley and Bundy I think we might have drafted the "right" Oklahoma HS pitcher... :D

Best thing about all this pitching going is that hitting will fall.

SI.com blurbs...

Trevor Bauer
To the relief of scouts, Bauer has toned down his wacky antics in 2011. Serious and focused, Bauer has enjoyed a phenomenal 2011 campaign, leading the nation in strikeouts and recording eye-popping numbers in all other categories. Bauer features a rising 93-95 fastball and a near "12-to-6" old fashioned curve. Bauer does not have the same confidence in his 83 slider, 87 split or sideways 86 change, but they project as excellent big leagues pitches as well. Scouts are concerned with Bauer's violent, maximum effort delivery, which may lead to a physical breakdown in the future.

Archie Bradley
A top notch quarterback prospect who has signed with Oklahoma, Bradley was impressive at last summer?s Aflac All American game in San Diego. He breezed through two perfect innings, striking out four of the six hitters he faced. Physically imposing at 6?4? and 225 pounds, Bradley fires a mid 90?s fastball and adds a nasty low 80?s breaking ball. Bradley is relatively sound mechanically and, unlike most high school pitchers, does a nice job of finishing his delivery. Industry insiders claim Bradley will ask for a hefty, if not record, signing bonus.

Wow. Major risk. Archie Bradley? I guess it was the BPA approach. I hope they have some money to throw at him.

It's not a risk because the Diamondbacks have already spoken to him and they will sign him. You can bank on it. I love the two picks. I would not rush Bauer up this year due to how many pitches he threw this year.

Honestly, it's never going to make a difference because you can't make him rest. He throws pitches in between inning on days he starts. His off-day workout regiment is considered insanity, but he buys into the theory more throwing = stronger arm. Play him or not, he's going to give his arm a rigorous workout. He's probably out there doing 1,000 long toss throws as we speak.

Agree, sign him and work him slowly. Let that arm get some rest.

At #43 the Dbacks go with a lefty pitcher coming off of Tommy John Surgery...

Was ranked #48 on ESPN 100, touched 95 earlier this year after the surgery but doesn't really have a 2nd oitch outside of his 91-94 MPH fastball...

If he really is healthy it is a solid pick, but again like the previous two, a bit risky..

I like the Chafin pick. I guess teams are very concerned about Purke as he has slipped to Round 2, if he is there when we are on the clock I pull the trigger. I would like to see ARZ take Mountain Pointe's Kevin Cron in Round 4, kids got monster power and we could use a C prospect for the future.

I feel like we are going to regret not drafting Rendon.

I just don't think he was ever really in the discussion to be drafted...

I think we were going to select Bauer no matter what would have happend...

now if he would have been there at #7 and we still passed, then I would be worried we might regret it..

But the fact that everything I read Rendon was never seriously considered, it would be hard to regret... if that makes sense...

I love the three picks so far. Bauer was always the guy I wanted and Bradley looks to be a guy who can be in the majors in three years. Chaffin is a steal. The guy beat Texas a few days ago on the Longhorns field and then gave the choke sign to the Texas fans. Gotta love his attitude.

By the way, looks like Bauer and Bradley are talking.

The Diamondbacks have drawn rave reviews for getting two power arms in the first seven picks in Bauer and Archie Bradley. And you gotta love the social media, because Bradley tweeted Bauer with "hit me up man we need to talk lol."

with the 3rd pick in the 2nd round the Dbacks got an absolute STEAL..

Anthony Meo, a RHP, with 2 plus pitches, including a 95 MPH fastball and a pretty good breaking slider that has late break....

He was #19 on the ESPN 100, while some think he could be an elite reliever, others project him as a #2-3 starter...

Either way at #63 overall, GREAT pick..

With the #93 selction we got Justin Bianco, a H.S. left hitting center fielder from PA...

He committed to Pitt..

And thats about all I know about him, if anyone else has anything, that would be awesome..

Washington (ofcourse) selected Purke in the 3rd round, ending his slide.. however unless they are willing to pay through the nose for him, all signs point to him going back to school...

With pick #124 we went with a college setup man named Evan Marshall..

He is headed for the bullpen immediatly, though some think he may be a fast riser to the bigs because he does one thing, but does it pretty well...

Thats about all the info I know..

But so far the Dbacks have spent 6 of their 7 picks on pitchers..

That is a steal. The DBacks are getting some very good young arms.
