They showed a stat on MNF that last year Plummer threw more then 550 passes and only 35 of them were thrown while the Cards had a lead. A meaningless stat but one that makes you think.

Another misleading stat that media types (like ASU grad Al Michaels) like to throw out.

How many times were the Cardinals behind because of Plummer INT's, fumbles etc.?

Dumb.

How about when Michaels said that Jake Plummers Rose Bowl play could be considered the best college football of all time. I love the Devils, but that is in no way a top all time play in College football.

I don't know man - that play was unbelievable - especially consdiering the year that he led the Devils to and him running around back there and scoring what appeared to be the TD to win the national championship.

Doug Flutie against Jimmy Johnsons Miami team probably the one I think of ...

Had Jimmy Johnson stomping on a box of flutie flakes about 12 years later...

Maybe...if his team had actually won. Fair or not, when a guy doesn't win the game, he doesn't get as much recognition.

Tommie Fraziers 75 yard touchdown run in the Fiesta Bowl against Florida was pretty amazing. Something like 9 Broken tackles on that play.

I was thinking the same thing Renz. How useless are stats like that? I remember taking my stats 1 and stats 2 classes in college and realized that you can make the results say anything you want to. I am sure that the Monday Night Football stats people wanted to also show that Ints and fumbles got Plummer into that position. How amazing that amnesia hits when a team is winning. Jake looked good, but showed flashes of his old self with a falling down try to get it to the running back instead of taking a sack because you are up by 21 points and a weak pass to the sidelines that should have picked on the Denver 20 yardline. Yep, Portis is making Jake looking really good right now. I just wonder how he will do when fighting for a lead?

Yep...should have been the game for second place, but hey, that's one of the scenarios that spawned the BCS. Now, the BCS ain't perfect, but it would have worked THAT year.
