James Jones is the latest Sun to with health issues.

James Jones is done trying to play on nagging injuries. He was ineffective in 10 minutes and had trouble with the pace. Tim Thomas started the second half in his place.

"I'm done," Jones said. "I'm not going to play on my foot until it gets healthy. I'm not helping the team by hopping down the court."

This is putting TT's comeback on the fast track, whether he's ready or not.

Fortunately the Suns have an eight game lead on the Clippers, so they can afford to sit Jones and delay the return of Amare and Grant until they are clearly ready to play.

With Jones out, it leaves more defensive liabilities on the floor longer. I like Tim Thomas and all, he did a decent job on the boards and on offense, but time and time again he let Dallas drive right by him and score in the paint. He only had one foul. As a big man AND not a star, he should have at least 4 fouls a game if he's playing down low on defense.

I wouldn't worry about it. James Jones hasn't been effective since before the All-Star break. He needs the rest and we're really not losing much by not having him in the lineup right now.

His shooting was off, but I thought Jones had been doing an acceptable job on defense. In any case, he needs to be completely healthy for the playoffs and he should take the time heal.

Jones has made som nice blocks in the low post and has defended centers and PFs and done decently. Plus now Burke is the only big guy coming off the bench if Tim Thomas starts. Maybe they'll go small and start Barbosa and move Raja to the 3....

The Clips aren't catching us, and we don't want to catch the Mavs or Spurs, so this is a good time to take some time off and get healthy.

Hopefully Amare will be ready in a week or so.

This does make the TT signing look like a stroke of brilliance, though

Ideally we would like to catch the one who isn't going to win the division, so we'd have home court if we faced them in the WCF.

Both of them would still have a better record than the Suns so they would have home court...

Which is why I said that ideally we would have a better record than the one who doesn't win the division which would give us home court if we played them in the WCF.

It's an interesting scenerio. It depend on whether the Spurs or Mavs fade. If it's close, it would be too dangerous to inadvertently end up with the best record.

Marion has the flu and Tim Thomas is also sick too. They're both probable against the Spurs. At least it's not an injury.......

So just for fun, lets say they are out for the game, as well as Nash. Then our starting 5 is:

House
Barbosa
Bell
Diaw
Burke

with Skita and Barrett as the only people coming off the bench? That would be interesting. I wouldnt be too opposed to it either, lets rest everyone, give the Spurs some of their own medicine. Maybe we can pull a miracle and still win the game, then people would really have to take us seriously.

I like this idea. Lets play the bench and rest all of our ailing starters. There is no reason we want to catch the Spurs and we would give them a taste of their own medicine.

Haha, even better. Sorry Im having trouble keeping track.

So then we'd have 6 bodies going into the game...it would certainly be interesting.
