I have this feeling Powell is a talented back and we are not seeing what we have in him enough. He does blow picking up blitzes (and most backs do the first season they see real playing time) but I do not see the reason of bring in Howling as a change of pace back when it is not a clear passing down. Run Wells (actually if Beanie makes the whole season now without injury, I would be fooled to think he is durable compared to his past), but bring in Powell. I know this has been brought up numerous times, but he seems to be a good back. Scratch that feeling and it seems...he is a good back. Wait, only young late round linemen and QBs are allowed to play. Powell runs like Terry Metcalf to me on valium, maybe not a future pro bowler, but dude has game :)

I know Terry Metcalf...and Powell's not him. That said, I couldn't agree more. Powell has talent and he needs to get more playing time.

I think he is pretty good when given the chance. But just like other guys(Bradley) who show flashes seem to never get a chance to prove it.

Metcalf was amazing, but of all the backs we have had since then...he has a little of that wiggle but not the speed or the ability to run with the ball while palming it with one hand. They do have the same basic size LOL

There's a great video on Youtube. Just search for "Terry Metcalf highlights." He was one of a kind.

Want to see more of Powell too. Terry Metcalf could do it all. Talk about some all purpose yardage.

There was a play where Powell was running wide open down the sideline for what would have been a sure TD but Lindley over threw the ball by about 10 yards.

I felt bad for the kid because any QB not named Lindley or Skelton probably completes that pass easily. Would have been his 1st career TD I believe and a nice little moment for him.

I have had that video bookmarked for sometime :) Here is something. Powell might not be a Metcalf, but for all the talent and his excellent return skills...Patrick Peterson is amazing but also not close to Terry Metcalf. Yes, the number Peterson wears should not be compared to Deon Sanders, screw that. They should make Peterson look at Metcalf tapes, another 21 who actually wore a Cardinal uniform, who was superior returner. Here is a sad thing as well, and anyone who had the pleasure of seeing Terry Metcalf play would agree to, he probably threw the deep ball better on trick plays than Skelton can pass deep. It made it so cool when his son Eric was on the team and had that return in the final game of the season in '98, help setting us up for a field goal and finally a freaking playoff appearance.

Powell is the most talented RB on the roster. I'm about done with Beanie, the dude has terrible feet and arm tackles bring him down easily. :mulli:

Can anyone on this board explain why Powell did not take most of the carries? He comes in with energy and jumps a guy for the biggest gain of the game at that time. If your going to play that pathetic QB why not Powell who wants to play. I'm the coach Lindley is released and any QB that can still throw that maybe still out there sign.

Offensive caoch , Graves, Whiz...Gone. Renewing tickets since 88 gone if they are not.

I agree bro. Lost in the QB conundrum is that Beanie Wells has been absolutely terrible.

Whiz's failure to put the best players on the field is just one of the many reasons he should be fired. I am not going to spend one single dime on this team until he and Graves are gone.
