Obviously a really bad idea, and they'd both occupy the exact same areas on offense .

You probably missed that Cousins is an excellent ball-handler and midrange-shooter (now a 3P-shooter, although the sample is small), so Chandler wouldn't occupy any areas from him, especially that his offense is put-backs, lobs and alley-oops.

Cousins is not a bad ball handler for a big but he certainly isn't "excellent". He is one of the most turnover prone non-PGs in the NBA. The 3pt shooting is nice but its obviously not where you want Cousins to camp out on offense.

Combined with guards like Bledsoe and Knight he would be far more effective (as would they) with him at center.

You don't want 3P-s from Cousins, you want them from someone else, but this guy shouldn't be a center, since it is Chandler.

Our future PF should have a better handle than Cousins, but rather shouldn't shoot 3P-s since it somehow disrupts our offense, but his scoring shouldn't come from inside it is Chandler's area which shouldn't be occupied.

I think the guy that you perfectly described is a one-dimensional long mid-range jumpshooter which is basically Markieff Morris on his bad days.

So, no trade is needed, he is the perfect solution at PF. :)

I think a good 3pt shooting PF paired with Cousins in the middle would be deadly. They'd create tons of space for each other and everyone else.

Pairing him with Chandler and we're setting up a team constructed a lot like the Kings are right now... and it clearly isn't working out so hot for them.

I'm not disagreeing with your position in general but it's rather misleading to call Cousins turn over prone - he really handles the ball a great deal - 22 shots per 36 min and 12.4 rebs. Plus he leads the league in free throw attempts so defenders are working very hard to stop him. You can live with 3.5 TO's with his rate of production and he does contribute 2.5 assists, too.

If the Suns are curious to make a low-risk, short-term move, Stoudemire would be a good fit, as long as he didn't play enough minutes to undermine the entire concept of defensive accountability. Assuming the Heat figure out before the trade deadline that they aren't contenders, they might be happy to unload Stoudemire for a second-round pick in order to save some money (including luxury tax).

Cousins played a great team game tonight, when he does that he's one of the 5 best players in the league. So often he fights the double team and throws up an ill-advised shot but tonight he was hitting the open man instead. Tonight's player is untouchable especially since he's fairly well respected in the community despite his NBA reputation.

Morris, Tucker, and a pick for Ibaka?

OKC is struggling a little.

They'll struggle more if they give up Ibaka for Morris and Tucker.

I can see them wanting Tucker and I can see them parting ways with Ibaka. I can't see them wanting Markieff. There might be a multi team deal out there that would work but it would probably also require a pick or more from us at a minimum. He's only 26 so it might be worth it to give away some picks and players. Given our style of play and with KD there we need a stretch 4 more than they do anyway and statistically Ibaka is having probaby his worst year in the league.

That's very much possible but I think that a frontcourt where Cousins is the inside-outside scorer/secondary distributor bigman (at PF or C) while Chandler does the dirty work could also be very effective.

Obviously, Chandler and/or Cousins will have a hard time to defend a quick, skilled bigman with range like Anthony Davis, but there are very few Anthony Davises.

Pairing him with Chandler and we're setting up a team constructed a lot like the Kings are right now... and it clearly isn't working out so hot for them.

I don't think that the Kings' main problem is who they are pairing with Cousins. Actually, their froncourt is one of the brightest parts of their future, present and past. And that's solely because of Cousins.

They don't really have a direction, identity and are lacking coaching (and proper management) since years (except maybe the Mike Malone-era.) That's why they just can't move forward from the Webber-era.

Me too, I can't, and me neither.

Ibaka is just a modern, perfect, 2-way, high efficiency complementary player to big time scorers like Durant and Westbrook.

The Thunder will never sell him. Don't forget that they kept him over Harden.

I really doubt the Thunder would view Morris and Kanter as a viable PF/C combo.

Stoudemire is on a 1 year minimum veteran deal.

He is probably the last player that the Heat need to unload beacuse of the luxury tax.

But it's very unlikely that they find a taker for Andersen or Green. And Haslem has been one of the faces of the franchise forever.

Green has also a vet min contract, so they barely save anything by trading him.

Udrih seems a more logical target to dump.

I was really hoping they would find a way to get Stoudemire in the offseason. He's clearly not old school Amare, but considering our current options, a huge upgrade. (plus, he would benefit from playing next to two legit centers)

Yeah, unfortunately the Suns have put up a couple of real stinkers on the defensive end recently, so I'm back to thinking that Stoudemire would be a bad idea. :p

That comment ought to say "Most" not "All. Speaking just for myself, I don't want Markieff traded. I want the Suns to do whatever is best for them regardless of whether he stays or goes.

I'm unhappy with his play and cringe most of the time when he takes a shot but I don't see the chemistry issue so many are convinced of. In fact I'm constantly surprised by how well he seems to get along with his teammates in addition to how well they seem to support him.

And my understanding is that he didn't throw a towel in the face of our coach, he threw a towel to the floor and later was suprised to learn it hit his coach on the leg. Much different than the Marcus or Horry incidents. Has anyone here seen evidence of or heard a report that varies from this description?

He's definitely become the scapegoat for all that's weong with the Suns.

When he's finally traded the Suns will most likely be less talented and no better off.

At least they'll be able to start focusing on the other issues that are at the root of their failure.

There was sufficient evidence for the league to approve the Suns action, suspending Markieff for two games. Markieff was frustrated and threw the towel towards Hornacek.

I think ESPN does an excellent job of summarizing the matter. See the link below.
"My frustration got the best of me [Wednesday] night," Morris tweeted Thursday. "It won't happen again. I apologize to Jeff. My teammates told me I hit Coach with the towel. In no way was that towel intended for him. I just want to help my team win so much. That's my focus moving forward."

"We try not to be punitive with these kind of things," general manager Ryan McDonough said Thursday. "We try to be fair. That's why we consulted with the league. Sometimes, these things do get emotional. We asked for their opinion. There was precedent for these kind of situations, but we would've done the same thing if it was any of the other 14 players on the roster."

Another option would have been for the Suns to ignore his actions but I think this would send a bad message to Markieff and the rest of the team.

I think it was warranted even if he didn't intend to hit Jeff. His behavior has been questionable at times and even throwing a towel in the vicinity of the coach is still rude and insubordinate. But it wasn't quite the crime it's being made out to be, players have done far worse.

I don't understand how fans can not want a trade for a guy who is purposely dogging it out there to get off the team.
