Yeah, something has to be brewing with the Pitt situation. He may be waiting to see if the Tomlin shoe drops and may have some inside info that he could be a replacement candidate.

It would be interesting to know what the league-wide perception is (from GMs and CEOs) on Mike Tomlin. He's not highly regarded by Steelers' fans, that's for sure.

Or Terry Bradshaw

Man... I didn't want Munchak but this is concerning.

Yeah... I’m with ya here. This is a good thing/bad thing kinda deal.

Dude hasn’t gotten a sniff anywhere else, has been a HC before so we know he’s got those ambitions and he’s only got one chance right now and say... “no thanks, I’m good!”

Troubling at least as far as what people think the shape of the team is in right now.

The perception around the league is that the Cardinals are not go-getters. They are not major players in FA. They "GOT MOSSED" by the Chiefs and Texans for Mahomes and Watson in a year where everyone knew they had to draft a QB. They sign older FAs because they are cheaper and easier to sign. There just isn't a lot of clear direction going on. And because of getting mossed last year---no QBOF in place.

Imagine how much more attractive this job would be if Mahomes or Watson was on the roster.

Arizona has gone back to being the organization where players and coaches go to retire. That's the pervading perception.

I would say that is a fan perception now and not a league perception by any means. You can give me an army of fans across the nation who will agree, but I have not seen one guy in the league say that about the Cardinals and Michael now

The Positives:

1. Excellent President/CEO in Michael Bidwill.
2. Past two hires have taken the Cardinals to 2 NFC Championships and 1 Super Bowl.
3. Rabid fan base.
4. Attractive warm weather locale.
5. First rate facilities.
6. Talented defense.
7. A potential chance to coach a first ballot HOF WR #11.
8. A chance to pick your own QBs.
9. A diligent and humble GM in Steve Keim who will try to get you the players you want.
10. A salary cap pro in Mike Disner.

wow.

Y'all just jumping over the edge. Have any of you interviewed for a position that moves you across the country?? That moves your family across the country?

That type of thing sparks up conversations at home. Perhaps his wife made it clear that if he were to take the AZ job she and the kids would not be coming with him?

You know... kids are in good schools...so in so is in her last year of high school...yada yada..

according to this article from a few years back he has family all over Pennsylvania,...and he really didnt ever want to be a head coach anyway...

Seriously on Mike Tomlin? His wins record are not because of him but in spite of him. Strictly a player's coach who can't control his "stars". How soon some forget his sideline gaffes and there are plenty to choose from.

Prime example #1

Contested catch by Jesse James TE last game of season against Patriots. On the sideline watching the big screen and never thought about different strategies for different outcomes. I could list many brain farts.

etc.
I’ll still take a Super Bowl win with locker room cancers anyday

if you have locker room cancers you wont win a SB.... big personalities are not the same thing.

I have never been a Tomlin fan,.for some reason he just rubs me the wrong way. He was handed a cadillac and he rode that bad boy to a lot of success... however, in the NFL teams steal from teams with success. He did in fact inheret a SB winning team,... but he has also had to maintain that team, replace coaches and players...keep them competitive.. and he has done that.
maybe not in epic fashion, but he has done it fairly well.

We are fans and we are of course freaking out even when we admit we are not, the head coach is a huge hire but at least we have a front office that wants to work with the coach and supply the financial means to succeed. Michael I think is possessed by the notion of winning, not just for himself but his old man while he's still alive. I think some of our posts turn into arguments beyond the reality because in our fit of passion leave out words to qualify the full perception we have... imagine us all talking in a bar without hearing the intonation of our voice or gestures

On Jan 1st we were "near the top", and now we are back to the organization where "where players and coaches go to retire. That's the pervading perception." Just admit that you were wrong dude.
