There’s just not a lot of good candidates this year. Bettcher is as qualified as any of the others but I don’t really want him either.

Have the cards or Shurmur officially moved on from one another? Or are we just believing the report?

just reports. most folks here have battered fan syndrome and automatically believe anyone else is better than us.

as long as the bikes are still playing there can be no official decision.... but there can be indications, like...have the giants stopped interviewing?

Reading Munchak's statement I feel a little bit better. But perhaps after moving from TN to PA so recently, doing it all again after you got fired after two years might be too soon.

I kept getting criticized for this last night, but at 57 and having played and coached in the NFL his whole adult life (36 years), it's tough to make a move like this.

It's just like I've gotten criticized for supporting QBs who don't come out of school early... I get it.

I personally still believe it is up in the air. Maybe that is the optimistic part of me. That being said, the Giants are a far better situation than what we have to offer.

Only way Shurmur is not a Giant is if Saban, Belichik or Jim Harbaugh accept the position.

They "GOT MOSSED" by the Chiefs and Texans for Mahomes and Watson in a year where everyone knew they had to draft a QB.

I don't get this, by all reports the card tried to trade up, for whom we don't now. So I don't understand how that is getting "mossed"? It takes two to make a trade, not all trades are offered to all teams. It's is also a wee bit early to anoint any of the QBs that were drafted less than a year ago, especially one that hasn't played in a meaningful game yet.

Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill publicly stated he plans to apply a patient approach to the search -- a similar approach the team used before hiring Bruce Arians
Translation: We're going to wait until the rest of the teams hire their coaches then we're going to see who we can get for the least money. In other words, like father, like son.

How can the Chiefs and Texans (two playoff teams in 2016 with lower draft slots) move up and get it done, and not the Cardinals? They got beat to the ball...and on ESPN that's called getting "Mossed."

BTW---Watson played in several meaning full games and was on track to be ROY. Mahomes is so promising the Chiefs are willing to trade Alex Smith who had a fantastic year.

I am with you on this one, Chopper. It’s not that the top insiders are wrong more often than they are right but all of them have in fact been wrong multiple times. I guess it might come with the job since everyone wants to be the first to say something. Not that I don’t believe there is these wink wink-agreements in place, as we have seen multiple times just in the last couple of years with Dan Quinn to the Falcons and Kyle Shanahan to the Niners. It’s just that it kind of baffles me how so many posters and fans seem to believe whatever these guys report without hesitation.

Maybe Matt Patricia do go to the Lions, and maybe Pat Shurmur will take the job with the Giants. I just think it’s wise to be a bit skeptical with all these reports from anonymous sources.

This...100%. I've said it before, if you're the team one spot ahead of AZ in the draft, and another team further down is also looking to trade up, you are going to take door #2. It's going to be a better package, based on how many spots you need to move.

I think the only way to satisfy some people, would be having Ditka as our GM, so he can pull a Ricky Williams every draft.

Had Watson not gotten injured Houston would have easily made the playoffs. They were averaging almost 40 points a game with him as a starter including scoring 33, 34, & 38 on New England, KC, and Seattle with 2 of those on the road. After that, with the notable exception of the game against us when they scored 31, their highest point output was 16 points. But let that sink in for a moment for those who think Bettcher would make a good head coach. After Watson's injury, Houston went 1-8 and in the 8 losses they averaged 11.5 PPG and included 2 losses to the Colts while they were able to score 31 points on us. So, in 9 games they were able to score 123 total points they score 25% of them against us.

I think it should also be noted that from 2010 until 2015 their current defensive coordinator, Keith Butler, turned down interviews with the Dolphins, the Colts, the Titans and, yes, the Cardinals. At the time he was a linebacker coach with the Steelers.

Now, those teams wanted to interview Butler for the job as defensive coordinator, and supposedly the Steelers had promised him that he would replace Dick Lebeau whenever Lebeau stepped down. None the less, I don’t think it is that farfetched to believe that Munchak’s decision, for whatever reason, was much more about the Steelers organization than the Cardinals organization.

Pretty simple they gave them a better deal in their minds. The cards only moving up one spot, for instance, are you going to give up 2 firsts to move up one spot? The answer is no, but are you going to give up two number ones to move up 10 places? The answer is yes, so if I hold the pick, which offer do I take? Option "B" please, as I said it takes two to make a trade. So IMO to say they got "MOSSED" may not be true at all, they simply got outbid.
