I have this sinking feeling we're going to draft Murray and end up being somehow worse than the team that finished in dead last for a while.

There are a boatload of very good reasons to stick with Rosen. As usual with the draft, you gotta think every rumor we hear right now is a smokescreen.

If they believe Gruden and Raiders really want Murray, they gotta make him think the Cards are serious about drafting Murray #1. Raiders have a ton of easy firepower to move into that #1 spot. They are the obvious trading partner for Arizona.

I will give Keim and Mike B credit for this: they have settled on a vision of a King-Air offense and are going all in on it -- no half measures, no hedging. If this works -- Murray becomes another Russel Wilson type, or heck, even a better passing Deshaun Watson -- it will be great and this team will be super entertaining, fun to watch and will have a distinct identity.

if not, the Cards become the Browns for a few years.

If I were Keim I would never let KK be involved in the decision to select Murray. From everything I have read or heard KK is too close to Murray to make a unbiased rational decision. I would also tell KK you made a commitment that you could fix and improve Rosen so now the onus is on you to make that happen. That is why we hired you in the first place. Good article from Peter King below. I tend to think the Cardinals are trying to get Gruden and the Raiders to move into the #1 spot for Murray. There are a lot of very good reasons for Arizona to stick with Rosen.

1. GM Steve Keim has final say on Cardinals personnel, including the draft. I would be shocked if today, 53 days before the draft and not having had a private workout nor a long conversation with Murray, that Keim has decided to pick Murray. “I don’t believe it for a second,” said Greg Gabriel, a veteran of 31 NFL drafts as a scout. “Could he have the lead in the clubhouse now? I asked Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner, who lives in Arizona and watched Rosen last year, what he thinks the value for Rosen is. “I would give a three for Josh,” Warner said. A third-round pick. Yikes. Saturday night, I asked a renowned NFL GM what he thought the value of Rosen in trade would. “Probably a three,” the GM said. “Not what the Cardinals would think his value is.” Scary, on the surface, for Arizona. But if you’ve decided you want Murray, and you’ve decided Rosen’s not your guy, you’ve got to move on, regardless what you get for Rosen.

4. Oakland coach Jon Gruden, picking fourth, loves Murray. He and GM Mike Mayock have gone out of their way to say multiple times that Derek Carr is their quarterback. Maybe they’re rock-solid on Carr, and maybe it’ll be a moot point if the Cardinals stay at number one. But with all their draft loot in the next two drafts (five first-round picks), and with Gruden’s crush on Murray, the Raiders bear watching.

5. Murray met with 10 teams in Indianapolis, but I wouldn’t read a lot into that. The usual suspects were among the 10 teams—Arizona, Oakland, the Giants, Jacksonville, Miami and Washington. But he also met with Detroit, Seattle and the Chargers. Detroit. Hmmm. Seattle: probably just fact-finding. I’m not sure of the 10th team. But as I said, don’t read too much into that."

If Josh Rosen is only worth a third round pick, then the Cards should pick Murray.

They wanted Baker Mayfield last year and only took Rosen as a consolation prize because they knew they needed a QB.

One thing not talked about is toughness. Has anybody seen Murray take a huge hit and get back up? There was a time I thought Wilson would have been gone by now. He has taken a beating especially when he got his big contract and it forced the Seahawks to lose a couple of their o-linemen. What happens when Murray gets hit two or three plays in a row. Donaldson isn’t going to pick him up and set him down gently on the grass because he’s small. Murray doesn’t appear to have faced much adversity either physically or mentally.

If the Cardinals do decide to go with Murray & trade Rosen, then you have to respect their evaluation of Rosen. If they were truly high on Rosen or even satisfied with what they saw last year, then I don't think this path would even be considered. As some have said, this may very well be a ploy by the Cardinals to lure the Raiders into a bad trade. Either way, it should be interesting to see how this plays out. Did Rosen show a few glimmers of hope last year? Maybe a few. And even though he was handed an offensive train wreck, there were still times when he was extremely disappointing. I think most of us are willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but perhaps MB & SK saw something that our rose colored glasses missed?? Time will tell & I'm fine with whatever direction MB/SK/KK decide to take us. Absolutely nothing can be as painful as what we had to witness last year.

Yet, to be fair as a naysayer, I am not respecting their evaluation for head coaching material, and if their evaluation of Josh Rosen was poor, I am not confident in their evaluation of Murray either.

Yet, I am wallowing in my own hypocrisy since I am happy with the signing of Vance Joseph.

One can only hope I am as wrong about this situation as I was about Matt Leinart and Kurt Warner. LOL

That couldn't be further from the truth. RG3's career ended because he never learned to slide or avoid the big hits. The only thing RG3 had over Murray was size. I think Deshaun Watson is a better comparison for RG3. Deshaun still hasn't figured out after a bunch of starts that he needs to slide. Dude takes some huge hits, lowers his shoulder into guys that are much bigger. Kyler does seem to understand his own frailty and is willing to get the hell down ASAP.

This was something I was concerned about with Pat Mahomes after watching him play hero ball in college where he would lower his shoulder into people. I was pleasantly surprised in 2018 to see Mahomes sliding and going out of bounds the vast majority of the time when he would take off running. It seems the Chiefs coaching staff was able to get through to him, whereas the Texans coaches have not been able to convince Deshaun of the same strategy.

Tell that to Mahommes & Mayfield whom played in the same poor defense conference along with Goff in the weak PAC 12.

I said 3 years ago I didn’t trust a QB from the Air Raid at the NFL level & now the last 3 have been $money$.
