Im a koolaider but im gonna agree with cheese.

this team has some major problems - they can be fixed tho

how arthur? I'm not saying they can't, but 10 games is a solid amount of time to see what a team is going to do defensively. I'm really trying to figure out how they're going to get better defensively and would welcome any answer to try and assuage my fears there.

He's never been that good of a defender to begin with. He commits way too many dumb fouls.

I like Amare here like everyone else but the man has his faults.

i agree with that.

I didn't even come close to saying that. You also neglect to mention that we almost won against a team playing the best in the league two nights ago without THEIR best player as well - although we didn't have Nash either, so it's a wash there pretty much.

I just can't get all upitty about this win. I just can't believe how atrocious our defense is and I'm struggling to figure out how that's going to change. If someone could make a rational argument for that I probably wouldn't be so worried, but man, our defense has been relatviely weak in the past, but now it's just god-awful. That's what is really troubling me about this club.

I guess the only comment I can add is this is the 3rd year of this offense and you are correct this year the defense looks the worst out of the 3. But it is very early and the defense picks up when the team is playing better offense and lets be honest the offense has not been up to par from the last two years either.
Steals, cutting off the passing lane and a few blocks that’s the defense that is used for this team. We have not been and will not be a one on one defense team. Once we get settles this team will be fine.
Will we win it all, who knows but we have a decent chance if like always health is not the culprit.

(Oh and note to self Reality is not always negative)

We are basically a much more athletic version of the 2002-2003 dallas mavericks. But that's the thing that pisses me, you and and everyone else here (at least it should) off. We have the athletes to play better defense.

Is there any reason with his athletic ability shawn marion shouldn't win defense player of the year this year (especially since we have so much offense, he can cut down a lot of his energy on offense). Why can leandro drive by anybody on offense, but cant consistently keep people in fron of him on d (not to mention his long ass arms). Its all a mindset not instituted by the coach. Do you think some of our guys would underacheive like this on d, if popovich coached them?

What indication do you have of that? This team has not improved defensively since Coach D took over. The offense has exploded but this team despite having some defensive talent still can't play defense.

No they would be a different team all together, as you stated above they would use more engery on D and would not be the Run N' Gun Suns we have here.

Am I the only one that noticed the stops we got at the end of the game that allowed us to come back and pull out the win? Warriors had to force up bad shots with the shot clock winding down a number of times, and we drew a charge, Marion blocked Ellis on one drive and we got a couple of steals as well.

Our defense when it mattered was pretty decent IMO.

No but did you notice the lack of stops throughout the game made it necessary to gets stops at the end???

With the offense this team has, they don't need to be a top defensive squad like the Spurs or the Pistons of 2 years ago. What pisses me off is the lack of effort they show at times and we saw that tonight. We also saw what can happen when they put forth the effort on D and stay active. But a win is a win and I'm happy tonight with it.

You are right Cheese. However that doesnt take away from the fact that NASH IS GOD! Black Jesus= Amare Stoudemire for those of you who dont know.... by the way, my post name for football is boldin

So let me get this straight... you have TWO user names on the arizonasportsfans.com forum? Why not just stick to one? It would make it a lot easier for you and the rest of the board in recognizing every one of your posts.

For some reason, Suns fans love to focus on the negatives. They don't always play good defence, but when they do play good defence, apparently no one pays attention.

I was in the 9th row standing up when Nash had the ball with my friend holding up 3 fingers in the air while all the warriors fans were cheering defense and bouth of us offense and going crazy after the 3 pointer the game was crazy

Nash 3 time MVP one and only

Best part was then warriors fans were cheering Ellis for MVP

When we try to play D the refs start calling fouls all over the place so our guys are a little tenative about it, look lets face it we get jobbed by the refs all the time when we tried to D someone up all of a sudden the other team is shooting 50 fts to our 10-16. SO we burn a bunch of energy trying to play D only to get screwed anyway. I have yet to watch a BB game where there were more phantom foul calls than Suns games. How about the 3 point swing with no time left in Utah and the phantom foul on Okur yeah like that happens all the time. But people just continue to bag on our D. You know what we should be yelling about,.... rebound the damn ball I hate when we shoot everyone is already running away geesh someone stay in and try to get a ball once in awhile.

That's a very good point. I was thinking the same thing.

Having two usernames is against our rules. You need to pick which one you want to keep.
