Anyone else excited for it to come out..

I found some screen shots of gameplay from RealGM. Looks a little weak

Is that Dragic or Amundson sitting next to Barnes*to the right)?

It looks like Nash is playing center. No wonder we can't get any defense. :bang:

It's realistic: In the first capture, the shot is in the air, but not a single Suns player is boxing out.

This will be the first time since NBA Live '96 that I will be getting an EA basketball game. I've been getting 2K since the Dreamcast, but I really think this will be the year of EA.

Also, the sunburst on the shorts look HUGE on those pictures!!!

I consider myself a gamer & IMO basketball doesn't translate well to vid games at all.

How so? You don't think it's possible to make a good basketball game? Or, it just hasn't been done right so far for your tastes. What would it take to be a good basketball game in your eyes?

That.
The graphics have gotten better obviously, but IMO the gameplay & character models,AI etc is still just not right. I'm just comparing to other sports games like football & baseball that seem more realistic.

Live hasn't ruled for about 10 years now.

I agree!! I used to play the NBA Live series from EA Sports from mid 90 to about 2000. When they removed custom teams and still couldn't balance out the gameplay and realism concerning "catch-up" play (everything missed or got blocked) and stats on blocks, post play, drive and dish etc, I just gave up on basketball gaming.

I agree with mojorizen. Basketball don't translate well to gaming IMHO. One of the better basketball games I played was TV Sports Basketball by the way. Only team sports games I play now are FIFA (soccer) and NHL from EA Sports. Got Wii Sports and Tiger Woods on the Wii, plus Madden 07.

NBA Live 09 looks like it could take over video game basketball again. It has an incredibly advanced feature called Dynamic DNA. Check it out...

NBA 2k has something almost exactly the same called "Living Rosters" where not only do they update rosters but attributes for both individual teams and players are adjusted as well.

The problem with NBA Live 09 is that gameplay sucks every year. No matter how cool features are, EA b-ball games just suck.

Nice video. 2K is looking better than it did last year. I like the new crowd and bench animations... although, I don't understand why the lower bowl crowd is still standing 1 minute into the first quarter. I think we all know they don't do that in real life. Rich people's feets get tired, ya know?

At least the whole presentation is looking more like a real TNT broadcast. I think they need to make a few more tweaks. I know this might sound crazy, but they need to delay updating the scoreboard until about 2-3 seconds after the basket. I'm so used to seeing the delay in real broadcasts, it really makes the videogames look artificial.

Based purely off of the demos, I rank 2K9 third behind The Inside 09. I am not feeling it at all.

I was really starting to believe that I made a mistake reserving Live, and I was really looking forward to 2K9's demo. Maybe I'm still stuck on the games from the last-gen consoles.

Played the demo of Live 09. As usual the game play sucks. Doubt Inside 09 will even be a contender. Have not played the 2k demo yet. Will have to post back when I do.

OK. Just played the demo. Way better game play then Live 09. Have a feeling 2K will take the crown again this year.

2k9 online is the worst trash I have ever played on 360. I can't believe they took a step down like this.

My rating
3/10
