I don't know if you guys caught it but they had 2 interesting things on there:
1) JW was on, and he said there is no deal with anyone, and they're still talking to a bunch of teams. He's sorry that any players got wind of this, but sometimes it happens. He finished by saying they were getting sweetened offers, and would look to make the best deal possible
2) Next, they bring up jim gay. he's STILL sticking to his guns that the deal will go through with houston. except now, he's changed his reasons AGAIN. however, this time he may actually have something. He said he's been told by a whole bunch of folks that tracy only will sign with houston, so no matter what offers are given, it doesn't really matter.
Now, JW may look stupid, but from what i hear he's a harvard grad. If I KNEW that houston was my only option, what am i doing soliciting offers from all these places? why do i put a 'smoke screen' out there, and then pull back on a deal when other offers come pouring in? you think mcgrady will change his mind this late in the game (assuming its made up)? this is why its getting harder for me to believe that mcgrady refuses to sign with anyone but the rockets, because if that were the case, all of the actions by this GM would make zero sense.
However, from teh suns perspective this may all be moot anyways considering we may be out of the talks, but we'll see.
