The Cavs roster without Lebron is old and slow. Going forward I'm definitely taking LA's young guys; Russell, Ingram, Clarkston, Nance, Zubac, #2, #28.

Lebron will be 33 in December. It's hard to imagine him and George beating the Warriors with a bunch of 20 year olds.

To make this work the Lakers would have to trade their number 2 pick NOW for someone like Butler then add those 2 next summer. Even then I don't think that beats the Warriors.

Well according the lagacies of Michael Jordan and Joe Montana its better to lose before the Finals/SB than in them. Maybe that will be LBJ's thought process.

Josh Lewenberg @JLew1050

Masai says he's "open-minded" with 23rd pick, doesnt expect to trade it but OK with using it to draft project/stash or more NBA-ready player

Ok. Something's up. Griffin gone. Love on the trading block. Rumors flying about LeBrons wife wanting to live full-time in LA. LeBron tweets to griffin about we got al least one. We have seen this before.

LeBrons going to LA. Watch. He is all about building his legend. He got a championship in Cleveland. He is done there. Now he can be the one who brings the Lakers back to glory--and makes even more dough in the process. LeBron signs as a free agent. They add Paul George.

Wonder how that Laker pick will turn out now?

I had Lebron and and George to the lakers written out last night in an un-posted post only it depended on them keeping Russell (thereby fueling my Ball to Phx excitement) because they can't win a title with a rookie point guard. Didn't post it because it felt like I was reaching a bit but yeah it's believable.

I don't think the speculation is Lebron is looking to move to LA before the 2018 season. I think it is that he will opt out after the 2018 season and sign with the Lakers (or another team).

Lebron and George are both under contract until next summer.

That's debatable, all they'd have is those 2 and the sack of hammers that is the current Laker's roster.
We're all unfortunately underrating the Lakers young nucleus. I'm not big on Russell/Randle but they will be at worst solid long-time NBA players. Ingram is going to be really good and I've made my thoughts clear on Lonzo. At the same time I don't think LeBron makes much sense there. Paul George definitely.

That Laker pick conveys next season. LeBron and George are projected as FAs only AFTER next season.

I'm not going to rehash the tired question of "how you build a contender," because we all know that there are as many answers to that question as there are contenders.

The Warriors' core (besides Durant) was drafted by them, but they didn't restrict themselves to that. Besides Iguodala, they've relied heavily on Livingston, and to a lesser extent on Bogut and Pachulia. They didn't have someone in the front office say, "Oh, well it would be foolish to bring in Iguodala, because he's older than the young core we've drafted."

here's what you're completely missing about what the Warriors did versus what you're saying we should do. The Warriors

a) didn't start adding big vets to the team (like Iggy) until they were ALREADY a 50 win team on the rise. And Livingston costs peanuts compared to DJ.

b) AND, more importantly, they didn't have to GIVE ANYTHING UP to get guys like Iggy, Livingston, Pachulia, Bogut. You're talking about mortgaging the Suns future... for a guy who won't really make that much difference in the present.

That's literally how you just keep ending up in limbo.

good gravy... first it was Westbrook and Love are sure things! Then it was the summer of Carmelo and Lebron! Then it was the summer of Aldridge! Last summer was they were going to get Durant! And now, you've fallen right back into the same trap as the last FOUR summers and that Lebron is going to LA.

When that doesn't happen and the pick still sucks, please don't cite your own post for proof that LeBron to the Lakers was a done deal in most people's minds.

A player stays with an NBA team for typically, what, three years? We have this conversation a lot. Most of the current Suns roster will have turned over by the time they become relevant again.

I don't consider it "mortgaging the future" unless you're giving up a core piece. So if the package was Warren, Bender, and a MIA pick, what's the core piece? Maybe Warren, and don't get me wrong, I like Warren, but I don't see him as a must-have going forward.

On the other hand, adding a legitimate center now would:

a) allow the rest of the roster to grow into their proper positions, instead of always moving up in small ball,

b) allow the coaching staff, if they are competent, to establish a culture of team defense, based on the presence of a real rim protector and defensive rebounder -- you know, the role that Chandler plays in the 25 games per season that he's healthy,

c) allow management to get an accurate look at the potential of the young players, and make better decisions about where the real gaps are in assembling a contender,

d) improve franchise morale by getting out of this era of endless suck, and becoming a credible destination for free agents again.

To me, that's a lot of upside if the only real cost is Warren.

Ay, chihuahua!

Need the lube.

It looks like there are a lot of bottom feeders out there needing an easy story.
