Really? I think Julius Randle will be a nice player, but that's all.

I think they can get more for that pick.
?
They can't get better than the 2nd pick from any other team.

I dont think there's any way Suns get Ball unless we trade up to 2.

The ringer had an interesting idea of the suns taking on a bad contract and swapping picks with the Lakers to grab Ball. I would do that in a heartbeat.
That would be helping the Lakers sign a high profile FA. You don't want to help facilitate that if you're the Suns. Enabling a rival.

I think Fox has a chance to turn out just as good if not better long term anyway. Suns will get a very good player at 4. Jackson's character concerns non withstanding.

I don't care about helping the Lakers when we are both bottom of the barrel. The real question is whether it helps the Suns or not. If it makes sense, you do it. You only worry about that when you are contending.

I agree. I've never understood teams reluctance to trade in their own divisions. If the trade makes your team better do it. Sure, if you make a bad trade with the Lakers you'll have it rubbed in your face a lot. So I guess the question becomes, do you have the balls to pull the trigger?

It's more of a bigger deal in football than in basketball.

I wonder if Miami would have any interest in getting their pick back, they have #14 this year and we could trade them their 2018 top 7 (I think) protected pick back to them for this years. Just spitballing but that could be a way for Phoenix to get back into the first round to take someone like Zach Collins, John Collins, or Bam Adebayo.

They'd have some flexibility then to trade that pick, or a 2019 pick, elsewhere. Riley could make that more valuable now than later for them. They have cap space also to retool with vets now that Bosh is off of their books.

Pacers are looking to trade Paul George, even though they apparently haven't engaged with the Lakers. I don't see any team trading for him without involving the Lakers as a 3rd team, if the Pacers don't want to talk to LA directly. Could LA's #2 be at play here?

If the #2 is included in a hypothetical Paul George trade, who would Indiana want to pick?

The Lakers have no reason to trade any assets for him since they know he will come to them regardless after the season. There was a report that he apparently doesn't want the Lakers to give up any assets for him too so that he will have good players around him.

It looks like George leaves the Pacers with little leverage for a trade. It seems like there should be a penalty for player tampering.

While I agree in principle, it's not quite that simple. If they can work out a trade, they can shed some salary, and they can sign someone else the following summer. They certainly have the leverage, and they don't have to trade, but there are reasons to trade now if they are able to.

Yeah you're right, I learned of that today.

Even then I don't know if they would trade the #3 pick for the uncertainty of signing another star player next season.

A lot of info floating around right now about Jimmy Butler and how we and Minnesota are looking at acquiring him.

Wha? Not crazy about those rumors. We already have a shooting guard of the future. And we'd be trading that pick? Would the thought be to play him at the 3? Super not crazy about that idea.

That would put us firmly in purgatory with TWO players in Bledsoe/Butler who will be at the end of their primes by the time the young guns are really ready to roll.

I haven't seen anything about Butler coming to Phoenix but have heard we could be a 3rd team involved in a deal involving him to make it work.

I did see something about how Blake Griffin thinks Phoenix is one of his favorite BB cities though which started rumors of him coming here in FA next year.

I noticed the Cavs and Bulls are working on the trade for Butler but need a 3rd team to help grease the wheels.

I got it:

Cavs get Butler and Bledsoe
Bulls get Love and Tristan Thompson and pick
Suns get Kyrie
