I have no idea if this has been posted yet since there is so many things being posted.. but here ya go..

Boston's Danny Ainge has acknowledged discussing Garnett possibilities with the Wolves, and the Suns, according to NBA front-office sources, are talking to them, as well. After three straight seasons out of the playoffs with Garnett, it appears Minnesota finally has realized it must consider dealing Garnett and starting over because it lacks the trade assets or salary-cap flexibility to significantly improve the cast around him.

Whole article talking about Kobe and KG: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/colum...c&page=KobeKG-FAQ&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab2pos1

If Garnett's intent on going to a winner, and we already know Amare's not going to be dealt, and Minny is intent on getting something in return before Garnett, you have to think a package of Marion, a lesser player, and first-round picks is going to be more enticing as the draft approaches.

I think elindholm's had this finger on the pulse of this deal from the start. I'm going to pay attention to what he thinks.

Wow, I appreciate that, but you're giving me too much credit. (Wouldn't it be nice if certain other people on this board made that admission once in a while?) I've merely felt that it was a fantasy that wasn't necessarily completely out of reach.

I will say that I can't think of another player in the league who would round out the Nash/Stoudemire pairing better than Garnett. Not Bryant, not Duncan, not Nowitzki, not James, not anybody. That doesn't mean that Garnett is better than those other players, but that I think he's the best fit.

There's another thing. The Suns' public-relations campaign last season was "Eyes on the Prize." Well, they pretty much fell flat on their face with respect to that. Sure, they were the only team to take as many as two games from the eventual champions, but they still fell ten wins short of a title.

Now, many on this board will argue to the death that the Suns are "right there" and just need to roll the dice again. Maybe they're right. But will that sell with the fans? If Sarver is looking at a big luxury tax bill, can he really afford an apathetic fan base that no longer trusts regular season success? Or do the Suns need to do something dramatic that says, "Okay, dammit, THIS TIME we mean it!"

The Suns have a ton of incentive to get this deal done. My guess is that if it falls apart, it won't be because the Suns didn't try.

I don't. He doesn't run especially well and he's redundant with Stoudemire offensively. Garnett has a much more polished mid-range game and is a better playmaker.

I can't agree with you on Duncan's running. He runs very well. No, he isn't fleet of foot, but he is plenty mobile and he doesn't get winded. Hell, he runs well enough to have dominated us for the last several years....

PS - I agree that KG is a better fit for our current style, but I'd still take Duncan over KG and I would accept that we'd have to tweak our style....

I don't think we'd have to. KG's a runner. He's like a gazelle and we'd have 2 guys averaging 25+ ppg!!! Nash would average like 16 assists (unseen since Stockton) and Bell would continue to be deadly....

OK, since you insist...I pay attention to what you think, too, Eric.

I doubt he'd get a minute at SF with the Suns. Not that he's incapable of playing there, I just think D'Antoni would prefer to have him at PF and C.

Heh.

For others reading, what I meant was, it would be nice if other people admitted when someone gives them too much credit.

The effect would be similar to moving Marion to PF full-time, except KG is much better at guarding big men and punishing mismatches.

Bingo. You win the prize. All Marion lacks is height which hurts him both offensively and defensively. If Marion had Garnett's height we would not even be having this conversation.

You just keep telling yourself that. :p

Seriously, if Garnett comes to Phoenix, you'll recognize the profound differences by the end of November.

I like Garnett, but all I'm saying is if Marion was a 7' PF/C the Suns would already have a Championship(s). Tell me that's not true. Can you even imagine what Marion could do at 7' with his build and jumping ability.

Also, KG probably sees more double-teams in a week than Marion has his entire life.

This is not so much what KG might be able to do in a Suns uniform but what Marion could have done if he was blessed with Garnett's height. I think he would have been awesome because of his build and jumping ability. I know I would never want to take the ball inside on Marion if he were 5" taller. Defensively alone he would be crushing. Marion has already proved himself offensively... even as an undersized PF.

Imagine what Steve Nash could do if he was blessed with Yao's size! :)

It works in NBA Live!!!

All you have to do is change his height slider to like 7'10" and put his speed to 100%!!!

If only the Suns could figure out a way to make each player have actual working sliders, we'd be unstoppable!!!

:D
