What an unlucky franchise. Coming off big wins against OKC and POR, Dragic gets hurt before two big games that might have clinched it.

:bang:
It is not lack of luck, Raider. I give a lot of credit to our GM for what the Suns accomplished. But we were so close, built up our expectations and will probably fall short.

Why! Because because our two best players (both in the backcourt) had chronic health problems. Bledsoe came to us with knee problems and Dragic has sprained his ankles three times this season.

Still, the pressure was on the two of them to carry the team. Our third and fourth best players were Wings -- Green and Tucker. And our fifth was an undersized Power Forward off the bench.

Then came the erratic seasons from our starting Center and Power Forward/backup Center.

That has nothing to do with luck. There was way too much pressure on Bledsoe and Tragic to carry the team and it caught up with us. And their stamina.

If the plan is only to tweak a little bit next season, the results will probably be the same. We need a power player in the post. And we can't wait for Len (and his own chronic leg problems) to grow into it.

Here's hoping the skills of our GM and Coach (which we anticipate) can substitute planning for luck. Planning makes things happen and puts you in control. Luck waits for things to happen to you and offers no control.

If we were stronger at the C and PF positions, there would have been less pressure on our two best players -- our co-Point Guards.

You know I am a big fan of having proper PFs and Cs, but let's not forget how bad this roster was. They had a competent PG, and a decent SF. You can't just fix three gaping holes on your roster in one summer. They drafted a Center, and traded for another one. They can't pull a solid PF and a solid Center out of your behind.

Now, if you want to complain about how Hornacek used Frye over Morris, Len and Plumlee, then I am right there with you.

Teams with most regular season wins to not make playoffs, since 1984 when the 16-team playoff format was introduced:

Code:
TEAM YEAR	WINS

[COLOR="SeaGreen"][B]phoenix		13-14	48[/B][/COLOR]
golden state	07-08	48
[B]phoenix 08-09	46[/B]
houston 00-01	45
minnesota	04-05	44
seattle 00-01	44
houston 02-03	43
utah 12-13	43
houston 10-11	43

Notice how all these teams are in the west, and all from the last 14 years. The Suns had the second-best non-playoff season just a few years back.

Now if you look further back to the 8-team playoff years, then the Suns have the top two non-playoff seasons with 49 wins and 48 wins in 71-72 and 70-71 respectively.

Looks like this year a team might set a new record.
Well, the Suns only tied the modern-day record. Updated list above.
