My guess is Monte Kiffin, DC for Tampa Bay.
He's from Nebraska, went to Nebraska and I believe his contract extension is done after this season.

Six straight years of coaching top ten NFL defenses should go a long way toward getting the Blackshirts back to where they belong (which of course is turnover-causing mayhem).

I would have loved to see Mike Stoops get the job. Would have been great to see the Stoops brothers go at it for the Big XII title.

Monte Kiffin note

Monte Kiffin was head FOOTBALL coach at NC State from 1980-1982. He coached 33 total games with a record of 16-17-0 (.485 win percentage). BTW... State was the ACC champion the year before he took over.

I don't think it will happen, but a radio talk show host felt Barry Alveraz because he played at Nebraska.

Maybe Nebraska should do what everybody else does and rob Kansas State's assistant coaches. :)

The Wildcats have replaced the Corn for Big 12 North supremecy in recent years. That certainly doesn't look to change in the near future (especially with NU rebuilding with another new coach). Both Bob and Mike Stoops coached at KSU in the 90's, perhaps there are a few other guys on that staff that Nebraska could tap. It may be the smartest thing they could do should they ever wanna be the powerhouse they once were!

Barry Alvarez has the perfect job at Wisconsin. As long as he wins 7, people are happy. Why would he ever leave for that pressure at Nebraska.

Face it, cornhuskers. With both Oklahoma and Texas recruiting every turd who runs a 4.3 but can't write a term paper, you don't have a chance.

Unless you turn hypocrite again and cheat the way you usually have when you win.

Ah, but that's right. From Johny Rogers to Lawrence Phillips, from Bob Devaney to Tom Osborn, you don't really care, do you?

Just win, baby.

That whole conference is an academic joke. And don't tell me how many academic all-american linemen you have, it's the criminal women beaters who allow you to win.

Firing Frank Solich after a 9-3 season exposes Nebraska as a fraud - again.

Any team that fires a coach after the kind of success Solich has had, and does so BEFORE the bowl game at the END of a NINE and THREE season, is a pile of steaming horse manure.

Sorry, Section, but this is not with my dislike of Nebraska in mind. That's just personal animosity. This just reeks of idiocy and childishness. Puts Nebraska up there with the Miami's of the college world.

You fired at Nebraska and hit K State..

I have suffered as a Mizzou fan for years under Nebraska annual whooopings but K State fits you description much closer.

Nebraska is and always has been a quality program that overlooked bad players or protected them. They do suffer greatly in punishing players. You suspend your holder one game for punching out an opposing teams fan????? Still Nebraska is always misjudged academically

Nebraska is being surrounded by Pinkel, Snyder, Stoops and now even KU is starting to recruit better. Nebraska is going to be reeled in by the rest of the Big 12 after schools punched up a massive upgrade program after the old Big 8 picked up the Texas schools.

However don't misjudge an entire conference by using Snyder as an example the guy is just a worm. He has been reported as chewing out one of his non-conference patsy's for daring to compete and almost trashing his powder puff plans.

Solich is really not any good at recruiting and coupled with increased competition he did have to go if you were a Husker fan.

The rest of the Big 12 is not happy right now because Solich was just what everyone else wanted a happless recruiting challenged patsy.

Okay, say this is true. I still thinks it's dodgy, firing a guy with so many damn wins, but okay, all this aside. Why the hell would you fire him before the bowl game? Why? You just said it wasn't the coaching, so why? Classless, period.

I agree that was classless.

Just a bunch of hacked off alums screaming for his head I am sure talked the AD into that gem.

I suspect it was left over rage from getting thrashed by K State. They absolutely hate that. I don't even think the Mizzou loss bothered them that bad.

Talk about Ironic, Nebraska fires a winning coach because of pressure from alums and because of its tradition. Penn State is scared to fire a losing coach because of his tradition despite pressure from alums.
