Let's trade Ariza if humanly possible before the trade deadline and sit Anderson until he can be bought out next summer.

Signing Ariza was a terrible mistake. This alone was enough to get McDonough canned.

Both should be sitting on the bench until they get their adrenaline flowing with another team.

Tyson like the rah rah kind of coaches like Earl Watson.

And I'd say scoreboard. Sure the blowouts are embarrassing and we didn't close out last year with a lot of them but by then every opponent tended to play down to our level until they needed to step up. And we did a lot of scoreboard padding ourselves down the stretch of games when the other team started playing the end of their bench. So, I'll go by wins and losses, no other measure is reasonable in this situation IMO.
Yeah gotta disagree with you there. The magnitude of the losses this year is an indicator because of its consistency. Dismiss it if you will, but I think you do at the peril of not recognizing the magnitude of the issue.

I'd be more impressed if Booker said the losing has got to stop. Forget the double digit stuff.

I understand but there is a context that I believe is being overlooked. We were horrible last season, especially down the stretch. If we had been playing those same games at the start of the season when teams were not fully aware of how bad we were, I believe we would have been dominated at least as much as we have been this season.

I didn't pay this much attention at the time but I've recently come to believe that the reason Jackson went from horrible to pretty good and now back to horrible is that he did his damage during that stretch when they other teams didn't even pretend to play defense for most of the game.

The Mavs have basically the same record as us without a rookie headcoach and playing the easiest schedule in the league so far while we had one of the toughest.

Saying Doncic won on every team he has been on is a joke. He has been on Real Madrid, Real Madrid has a .750 record every season regardless of Doncic.

And he was the best player on that team. He's been the best player on every team he's been on. He's leading the Mavericks and imposing himself on the game. That's what I want in q player.

It was a layup drill for Brooklyn at times. That's the most discouraging/frustrating part. Well, that and the turnovers.
I just realized that Igor began as an assistant to . . . . . . . Mike D'Antoni.

Wasn't it D'Antoni who made a mockery of the concept of playing defense to the Press?

i like Holmes. he plays aggressive.
i imagine in a few more weeks of playing with the Suns, he'll level down to Igor's expectations

I think he started in the NBA with Detroit and then the Clippers before landing with the Suns.

Fake news! Igor actually began as a coach in the Yugoslavian basketball program. His first gig in the States was as an assistant with the University of Missouri. His first NBA gig was as an assistant to Alvin Gentry with the Clippers. After that he was under Larry Brown and the championship Detroit Pistons who played pretty good defense, btw. D'Antoni came later and was just one of many stops along the way.

'Sorry I didn't research all of his prior assistant coaching experience.

But isn't the bottom line that Igor has shown the same lack of making defense a priority as D'Antoni?

Easy layups by the opposition kill you no matter what era.

That isn't how he talks. That is not what we saw in Utah last year. Sometimes it takes personnel. Just looking at what I see. I have no idea what is communicated on the practice court.

Well, I would say our offense looks pretty bad too and I doubt that's the result of a lack of priority so I would suggest the problem lies elsewhere. It might still be on Koko's shoulders but he doesn't appear to share Mike's run, run, run philosophy which was so closely tied to Dantoni's defense avoidance scheme.

I'd say Igor hasn't figured out either end of the equation.

Plus, you can't blame it all on the coach. The players need to be accountable too. Some of those offensive rebounds the Nets got were pure laziness on the Suns players' parts and have nothing to do with offensive/defensive schemes.

I agree. There are some mental lapses going on as well. Some of the players are not playing to the same tune.

And who holds the players accountable? The Head Coach. If not he, who? As any other manager, whether at Burger King or the NBA, the leader should have the skill to motivate their players.

Not everyone is cut out to fulfill that responsibility. It is up to the owner to choose the leader skillfully.

Overseeing a bunch of instant millionaires in the limelight is not easy. There are only 30 such positions in the NBA. You would expect those who rise to the top to be the cream of the crop out of the hundreds of college and high school head basketball coaches in the country.

yes, i do sympathize, it is a very hard job (that pays very well).

i don't know what goes on before games. but there are things i'm seeing on the court that are unacceptable
and correctable, yet being repeated every one of the 8 blowouts in 10 games.

that they played so well the first game of the season is an indication that they don't have to be as bad as they look in those 8 games.

i can't help losing respect for the coach, and it's likely the players are losing respect for him also.

I'd like to see Igor get angry and yell at the players when they're dogging it. He just seems so passive on the sidelines.

he's been an assistant too long.
cool, calm, and collected is an important attribute for an assistant coach.
players need to see some emotion from their coach at the right times
if a head coach doesn't have a passionate side it's hard for him to instill that in his team

It's only ten games into the season and of course there's been little continuity but I've never seen such slight team coherence before nor veterans playing so badly, so lazily. I thought Igor was a good choice since he's known as a teacher and with all our youth that should be a good match. But I'm inclined to think 1tin is right. It looks like Igor has lost the team for some reason. It would be interesting to hear what the players have to say about it though that could cause even more disharmony.

The alternative to keeping Igor is just as scary - Sarver and James Jones selecting a new coach.
