The Chicago Bears added some big names through free agency headlined by guards Joe Thuney and Jonah Jackson and defensive tackle Grady Jarrett. All three are veterans in the league who will look to not only raise the talent and play on the field but establish a winning culture in the locker room with new head coach Ben Johnson.
The well-established and experienced veterans have built reputations around the league, whether it be with their individual or team success, and that's what they all have said they plan to bring to the Bears franchise. In his own time in the league, veteran safety Duron Harmon has played with Thuney, Jackson and Jarrett and feels they'll bring plenty of positives to the locker room.
Speaking to Chicago Sports Network, Harmon said he believes the new additions to the Bears roster has helped the team get very good, and very quickly. Having won three Super Bowls himself during his nine seasons in the NFL, Harmon knows what it takes to win at the highest level and believes Chicago has put themselves in position to succeed.
"Very fast, and very quick, the Bears got better," Harmon said. "They brought in three, veteran, very proven players in the National Football League. I've had a chance to play with all three, Thuney with the Patriots, Jackson in his rookie year with Detroit, and Jarrett in Atlanta, and one thing I'll say is all three are obviously phenomenal football players, but they're even better men. So they will be great leaders in the locker room, they're all winners, and they all played their position at a very high level. Kudos to the Bears for being able to grab those three players."
Understandably, after their embarrassing and disappointing 2024 season, there was a need for roster and culture change within the locker room. The former has already started to happen, with Ryan Poles and Johnson rebuilding the roster with the 2025 NFL draft still to come.
For someone like Harmon, who not only played in the league but also played with all three Bears newcomers, he understands the value they all bring to the Bears heading into this season.
