Who cares? Lunardi isn't a college basketball prognosticator, he or somebody else at ESPN has sources on the selection committee which give them a heads up on who's in and out. He's simply the face of this Bracketology facade.

Its really way too early to tell but that sounds about right as of now. ASU is a bubble team for sure, and its going to be hard to make any predictions about UA. Their recruiting class may not be done yet (they could get Derrick Williams) and we'll have to see in action in non conference play what Miller can do with a team without much depth and a lot of talented freshman.

Andy Katz has predicted ASU to finish near the bottom next year. It's way too early to predict anything. The Cats could get Jones and/or Williams and injuries could pop up.

Here is what Katz had to say about Nic Wise and the Pac-10.

Nic Wise's decision to return to Arizona for his senior season gives new coach Sean Miller one of the top point guards in the Pac-10, a scoring threat every time he touches the ball, and the guarantee that the Wildcats won't go through any kind of Indiana-like transition period.

Miller wants to temper the enthusiasm in his new locale, as any first-year coach would. But getting Wise back to go along with role players Kyle Fogg and Jamelle Horne and impact newcomers Solomon Hill, Kevin Parrom and Kyryl Natyazhko means the Cats should be considered for a top-half finish in the Pac-10.

That would have seemed impossible a month ago, when it appeared Wise would leave with Jordan Hill and Chase Budinger and before Miller locked up three key recruits. But after Cal and Washington, the Pac-10 is wide open. Arizona has just as good a shot to finish third among a group of teams that includes UCLA, Oregon State, Oregon and Washington State.

I will say that I expect both Arizona and Arizona State to do well this upcoming year. ;)

Would have to politely disagree. ASU should be thankful if they finish 6th. I see them finishing better than only SC and Oregon. I'm hoping for an Arizona top 4 finish. We'll see.

Andy Katz also predicted USC would finish in the upper half of the conference when at the moment they probably don't have enough guys to practice. He also predicted that Reggie Theus would be Arizona's coach when there was a lss than zero chaance we'd ever hire him. He also thinks Kevin O'Neill is going to do a good job at USC and present recruiting problems for Sean Miller. Let's face it - Andy Katz like almost all the rest of ESPN jumped the shark many moons ago.

As of now I say Arizona and ASU are NIT bound, but if Arizona lands Williams and Momo they probably make it in. I think ASU would also get a big boost if they land Williams who from all indications is ready to contribute in Pac-10 frontcourts right away. Frontcourt play is the issue with the Arizona schools, if they can get a player that can log quality minutes that would go a long way in shoring up their glaring weakness. And this is of course assuming no major injuries, neither squad could weather an injury to one of Nic Wise, Kyryl Natazacko, Derek Glasser, or Rihards Kuksiks.

But of course if you want the most accurate indicator wait until Vegas comes out with their odds.

Williams is more a small forward. He won't be banging down load so wherever he winds up, he will be more a shooter from the outside.

He'd play the 4 in Miller or Sendek's system. He's of course not a traditional 4 but how many of those can you find in the college game playing their natural position? I can tell you he plays inside more than the Wear twins and nobody has an issue calling them PF's.
