New CBA Sellers & Buyers

With the new CBA going in place we could see some players being moved for cap space. I went through the each team and put together possible sellers and buyers. I did it in order of last years salaries by team.

Boston Celtics (Neither)
Current Cap: $34 Million
Main Salaries: Rondo 3yrs (11-13m), Pierce 2yrs (16m,15m)
Possible Returning Free Agents: Garnet, Allen, Pietrus, Bass, Dooling
Opinion: Boston will focus on their own Free Agents and or start the rebuilding next year. Possible sign and trades if they don't resign Garnett.

Orlando Magic (Fire Sale!)
Current Cap: $65 Million
Main Salaries: Howard ($19m), Turkoglu (11m,12m), Nelson ($8m), Davis (4 yrs 6m), Richardson (3yrs 5.7m+), Redick (6m)
Possible Returning Free Agents: possibly all low level players since they will have zero cap space unless they trade Howard
Opinion: The team has already amnestied Arenas, so they may have to trade Howard just to rid them on Turkoglu's contract and start all over just like thier organization has done.

LA Lakers (Sellers)
Current Cap: $75 Million
Main Salaries: Bryant (27M. 30M), Gasol (2yrs 19m), Bynum (16m), Metta 2yrs (7m)
Possible Returning Free Agents: Sessions,
Opinion: They will keep spending until Kobe retires, but with Bynum as the future they may try to move Gasol or maybe even cut ties with Metta to gain some cap flexability. Big market will still keep them spending over the tax, but only as long as Kobe stays.

Portland Trailblazers (Possible Buyers)
Current Cap: $48 Million
Main Salaries: Aldridge (13m,14m,15m), Mathews (6.5m,6.8m,7m)
Possible Returning Free Agents: Oden, Roy, Crawford, Hickson
Opinion: Blazers have some great draft picks this year that they might be able to fill the wholes left by Roy. They may go out and try to take on some salary to add to this team some where between the 5-8m range.

The Portland Trail Blazers are actively shopping Jamal Crawford. If they don’t find a deal for Crawford by draft night, they will lose him for nothing because he will opt-out and become an unrestricted free agent on June 29.

Miami Heat (Sellers)
Current Cap: $78 Million
Main Salaries: Wade, LeBron, Bosh (4yrs 17m, 18m, 20m, 22m), Miller (3yrs 5~7m)
Possible Returning Free Agents: low level players
Opinion: The team will stay together, they could amesty Miller if he says he will stick around or if he is a good guy he will just call it quits and leave the cash. This team will be paying big time in the tax area unless they end up breaking up the big 3.

New York Knicks (Sellers)
Current Cap: $61 Million
Main Salaries: Stoudemire (19m, 21m, 23m) Anthony, (19m, 21m, 23m) Chandler (13m,14m,14m)
Possible Returning Free Agents: Lin, Smith
Opinion: The Knicks may try to rid themselves of Amare or Chandler, but not many teams will be willing to take on their deals, unless they get Lin in a S&T. With the new CBA even NY will not be willing to pay that much to keep a bottom Playoff team together.

Dallas Mavericks (Buyers & Sellers)
Current Cap: $41 Million
Main Salaries: Nowitzki (20m,22m), Odem (8m), Marion (8m, 9m), Haywood (4yrs 8~10m)
Possible Returning Free Agents: Terry, Kidd, Carter
Opinion: We could see Haywood Amestied. Marion and Odem are both moveable players. Dallas is in a good place with cap space and trade pieces.

San Antonio Spurs (Neither)
Current Cap: $48 Million
Main Salaries: Parker (3yrs 12.5m), Ginobli (14m), Jackson (10m)
Possible Returning Free Agents: Duncan
Opinion: The Spurs will resign Duncan and play with what they got, maybe pick up another low level free agent. After next year look for them to make some moves to and rebuild. Jackson maybe trade bait with his expiring contact which could land them a player to build around, but would have to be a topend player.

Atlanta Hawks (Sellers)
Current Cap: $60 Million
Main Salaries: Johnson (19,21,24,25m), Smith (13m), Horford (4yrs 12m), Williams (8m, 7m)
Possible Returning Free Agents: Green
Opinion: Hawks are going to live and die with Johnson and his contract. Smith will have to be moved for picks or rookie contracts in order for this team to have any hope. Ferry has six years to figure it out, that should be as long as JJ's contract.

Well, that didn't take long: with Atlanta GM Danny Ferry in his first day on the job, the message is spreading that he'll be looking to shake up the Hawks' roster and rebuild in some capacity. Current Cap: $57 Million
Main Salaries: Paul (17m), Jordan (3yrs 10m), Williams (8.5m), Butler (2yrs 8m), Griffen (7m)
Possible Returning Free Agents: Foye, Young
Opinion: This team is set unless they don't think they can resign Paul. Griffen will get is payday in a year and will clean out their cap space. Butler could be moved just to clear space to resign Young or Foye, if they wanted. If the Clipps don't make the playoffs this year, you could see this team return to it's old baddly managed team.

Memphis Grizzles (Sellers)
Current Cap: $62 Million
Main Salaries: Randolph (16m,17m,16.5m), Gay (16,17,19m), Gasol (13,14,15m), Conley (7m,8m,8m,9m), Mayo (8m*Qualifying)
Possible Returning Free Agents: Mayo
Opinion: Take note Thunder... this small market team was built through high picks and is now in bad shape for the new CBA. Unlike the Thunder they did not have the success to maintain the salaries. This team will need to move 1-2 of it's players to be profitable and keep the team in Memphis or they will be looking for new ownership and home in a few years again.

New Orleans Hornets (Buyers)
Current Cap: $38 Million
Main Salaries: Lewis (23m),
Possible Returning Free Agents: Gorden
Opinion: Lewis will be amnested, unless the new ownership doesn't even spend enough to reach the min cap. Gorden might get overpaid to stay in NO and with Davis they can just take another year off and get a great pick next year.

Current Cap: $49 Million
Main Salaries: Brand (15m), Iguodala (14m,15m), Young (8m,8m,9m,9m), Williams (6m*PLYR OPT), Turner (5m,5m)
Possible Returning Free Agents: Hawes
Opinion: 76rs have a good mix of young and vet tallent, Brand could be amenested to allow them to become buyers in the new CBA market for a player like Josh Smith or a PG.

Chicago Bulls (Sellers)
Current Cap: $72 Million
Main Salaries: Rose (6yrs 15m+), Boozer (15,15,16m), Deng (13,14m), Noah (11,12,13,14m),
Possible Returning Free Agents: none
Opinion: The Bulls will need to make some changes for the new CBA, Deng and Boozer will be possible trade pieces. Boozer might be the best option since Gibson looks like he can fill that role. Deng will hurt them more, you could see a swap with the Spurs for Jackson.

Cleveland Cavaliers (Buyers)
Current Cap: $25 Million
Main Salaries: Varejao (8,9,9m)
Possible Returning Free Agents: Jamison
Opinion: Cavs will have lots of cap space along with two high draft picks. With that said they may only get mid level players to come to Cleveland, but overpay them so they can meet the min cap. Still can't see this team getting a highend player to agree to be traded here. But as the new CBA comes into play Cleveland maybe the only destination for a pay day.

Detroit Pistons (Sellers)
Current Cap: $56 Million
Main Salaries: Gordon (12m,13m), Stuckey (2yrs 8.5m), Villanueva (8,8.5m)
Possible Returning Free Agents: Maxiell, Dayne, Manroe
Opinion: Pistons just looks like a team that keeps running in circles, they have some bad contracts and have tallent but all at the same positions. Gordon or Villanueva could be amnesty targets, but this team needs a shake up. But finding someone to help out might cost them a good player.

Phoenix Suns (Buyers)
Current Cap: $30 Million
Main Salaries: Gortat (2yrs 7m) Childress (6.5,7,7m), Fry (6,6,7m), Warrick (2yrs 4m), Lopez (4m*)
Possible Returning Free Agents: Nash, Hill, Lopez, Brown
Opinion: The Suns are in a tough place, their vets are the face of the franchise and they have no youth to build around. With the cap space they could make some noise with the right sellers, but without Nash players might not want to stay around. If Nash doesn't sign I could see them waiting the year out and see who is desperate to cut salary.

Golden State Warriors (Sellers)
Current Cap: $56 Million
Main Salaries: Bogut(13,14m), Lee (12,13,14,15,15m), Jefferson (10,11m), Biedres(2yrs 9m),
Possible Returning Free Agents: Smith
Opinion: I could see Lee being an amnesty canidate, with the trade for Bogut this could be the idea. Otherwise I am not sure what the Warriors where thinking.

Oklahoma City Thunder (Sellers/Nothing)
Current Cap: $62 Million
Main Salaries: Durant (17,18,19,20m) Westbrook (15,16,17,18,19,20), Perkins (7,8,9m), Harden (5m), Ibaka (2m)
Possible Returning Free Agents: Fisher
Opinion: Thunder are in a good position next year. I can see them moving Perkins and keeping Ibaka and Harden on rookie deals until the following year. Going forward the team will have to decide which one they can keep.

Brooklyn Nets (Buyers)
Current Cap: $18 Million
Main Salaries: none
Possible Returning Free Agents: Williams, Lopez
Opinion: The Nets are putting all their eggs in the Howard basket. They might miss out on everything unless they think they can pull a Miami and get three players to sign at once. If nothing is set on Howard they will get locked up with Williams and Lopez.

Main Salaries: Ellis (11,11m), Udrih (8m), Gooden (3yrs 6.6m),
Possible Returning Free Agents: Jennings
Opinion: Jennings is looking for a payday now, but he is still under his rookie deal until the following year. This team will be getting high picks this year and next so they might just look to S&T Jennings if the right price is out there. Still not sold Ellis and Jennings can play with the same ball all season.

Houstan Rockets (Buyers)
Current Cap: $30 Million
Main Salaries: Martin (12m), Scola (9,10,11), Lowry (5,6m)
Possible Returning Free Agents: Dragic, Camby,
Opinion: Rockets are set up welll for the new CBA with expiring contracts and some valuable trade players. Houstan has been trying to make a splash and be the thrid wheel in a trade to get some players back, but not finding much help. With two lotto picks this year they will be able to add some players and keep thier cap space. With Mavs and Spurs in town still being the the go to place, Houstan may have to wait two or more years to be the Texas destination again.

Indiana Pacers (Neither)

Main Salaries: Granger (13,14), West (10)
Possible Returning Free Agents: Hibbert, Hill
Opinion: Pacers are at team right on the edge. They will overpay a little and keep Hibbert. Hill might need to find new employment will the depth at PG Indiana has. Pacers are going to need future cap space for George who will get a nice pay raise.

Current Cap: $43 Million
Main Salaries: Maggette (10m), Thomas (8,8,9m)
Possible Returning Free Agents: Augustin
Opinion: This team just needs to stick to drafting players. I could see them trying to make a deal but the other team will get the better end of the deal. Augustin might get any deal matched just so they can stay at the cap min.

Washington Wizzards (Sellers)
Current Cap: $56 Million
Main Salaries: Nene (Forever 13m), Okafor (13,14m), Ariza (7,7m), Blanche(7,7,8), Wall (5,7m)
Possible Returning Free Agents: none
Opinion: The Wizz took Nene off Dever's hands and now they are stuck building around him. The might amnesty Okafor and give them flexibility this year or just keep him around until his contract expires. The take the risk of loosing Wall in a few years if they can't get this team up and running in two years. But at least they will have a good draft pick to replace him with.
