The New Orleans Saints have lots to think about when it comes to the 2025 NFL draft, with a plentiful group of prospects to choose from, they have had to do their due diligence on many of those who could be available. The list of prospects who they have met with or had private workouts with is growing by the day, with players from all across the nation being part of the group.
Recently the Saints set up private workouts with two more prospects, those are Cincinnati offensive linemen John Williams and Luke Kandra. This comes from a recent report by Tony Pauline of Sportskeeda, who would say the following about the meetings and prospects:
"The Cincinnati Bearcats had a pair of offensive linemen on hand, John Williams and Luke Kandra. Williams sat on his combine numbers, while Kandra, who weighed 319 pounds at the combine, tested despite tweaking his hamstring in the early going. He touched 32 inches in the vertical jump, 9-foot-4 in the broad jump, and timed 5.17 seconds in the 40 despite the ailing hamstring. He also clocked 4.60 in the short shuttle. Kandra completed 34 reps on the bench press at the combine. The New Orleans Saints and Dallas Cowboys are set for different trips to campus and will work out for both Kandra and Williams."
Williams had a strong showing in 2024, posting 823 snaps at left tackle, allowing 1 sack and 6 hurries, which is absolutely outstanding. He also has great size for an offensive lineman, at 6-foot-4, 322 pounds. Given this and a decent showing at the scouting combine with a 7.55 Relative Athletic Score according to Kent Lee Platte, he could end up being an early to mid-round day three pick according to projections.
Kandra may be more in the Saints' wheelhouse athletically, as he would put up a 9.19 RAS during the Cincinnati pro day/NFL scouting combine. He also has good size, specifically for an interior offensive lineman, at 6-foot-4, 319 pounds. Additionally, his production was outstanding, not allowing any sacks in 2024, and only giving up 7 hurries in 803 snaps (447 pass blocking snaps). Current projections have him in the middle rounds of the draft, potentially moving up to somewhere like late round three or early round four considering his athletic performance.
Overall both players make sense for the Saints, with Kandra likely being more of a "Saints-type" pick according to prototypes of previous years. With that said, they are definitely both worthy of watching for on Day 2 or Day 3 of the draft.
