I didn't see the pilot. I didn't see it because I knew it would be fairly mild since it was on broadcast TV and because the basic story-line turns me off. I maintain that much of the CBS audience would skip the pilot for the same reason. And contrary to popular belief, us old people don't watch CBS just to be bored.:)

Steve

agreed. it would have never found an audience on CBS. Maybe week 1, but it would have plummeted in the second half hour and been dust by week 3. Wrong show, wrong audience.

And how long before they cancel Lie To Me? It's one of my favorite major network shows so it's probably on it's way out soon also.

Steve

hopefully not for a while. a good friend of mine works in the writer's office there. they'll get a decent amount of rope to hang themselves before that noose is tightened.

that being said, FOX has a TON of bubble shows. If you're selling a pilot, that's probably the place you want to land because it may have a TON of slots open next season with Fringe, Lie To Me, Human Target all being bubble shows and Lonestar's already been ****-canned.

You know, I like Fringe quite a bit but I can see why it's on the bubble. I have no idea why Human Target can't find an audience. Chi McBride's character is a little boring (probably by design) but Jackie Earle Haley added a lot, IMO. Hopefully, adding a female to the cast this season will bring in a few more viewers.

yeah, Sci-Fi is a tough sell on network TV for some reason. Probably because there's too much interference from above which usually puts a huge kink into very carefully laid plans... or it's just the wrong people writing it. who knows.

agreed. It's a solid action show, a little cheesy, but fun nonetheless. Jackie Earl needs his own show on FX/AMC/SHO/HBO though. Dude's a fantasic actor who's really fun in this role but could carry something if given the chance on one of those other networks.

Yeah, but who knew? The guy has practically had to beg for decent post-Bad News Bears roles until the past few years. You're right, he could carry a show but I'd rather they expand his role on Human Target.

yeah... but after Little Children (2006), it was pretty apparent he was a force on the screen. His just released from prison pedophile in that movie was an incredible performance. Then, he was pretty much the only good thing in the Watchmen. I expected him to explode after that.

Still kinda shocked he had to take a role playing second fiddle to the lead in that show.

I suspect with his face, his background and his Little Children character he had to be really careful with his next few roles. I think he could easily have been typecast into the pervert of the week character on all the Criminal Mind/CSI kind of shows if he wasn't careful.

Damn.... Lone Star got the boot. lol

Never thought it would go first with the strength of its lead in.

But I must admit.... That pilot was all over the place. Just deleted episode 2. So long.

If you added edge to lonestar and match it up with sons of anarchy and i think you have something, esp since FX viewers are pretty damn loyal right along with AMC.

CBS comedies must be over my head. I DO NOT get why people watch them. I'd rather not watch TV than watch them. And they're killing all the new shows. *shrug*

Anybody catch No Ordinary Family tonight? Just curious what people thought--IMO it's one of the best, if not the best, new show of the Fall.

With the exception of Big Bang Theory I don't watch any of the half hour comedies on network TV. I'm kind of surprised you don't like that show though. For me, it's up there with Get Smart, WKRP in Cincinnati, Bob Newhart Show, Barney Miller, Taxi, Frasier and a few other comedies that I've loved through the years.

Too bad, you're missing a few good ones. Community, Raising Hope, the occasional Office and Parks and Rec (which returns mid-season) are all worth checking out.

You're probably right. I like the original Office but I haven't checked out the American version. My problem is that I watch SO many hour long shows in addition to a lot of sports that I just haven't really checked any of the others out. I am planning on getting Community from NetFlix after a few more of the Fall shows die their early deaths.

I watched it and enjoyed it. One thing that bugged me is the dad is not very attractive and of course has a gorgeous blonde wife... but whatever :)

I found myself watching this show more than the Britney Spears Glee episode. I had never seen Glee and wanted to see what it was about but I found myself watching more of No Ordinary Family than I did Glee.

It has my attention, and I'll be watching for a bit, that's for sure. Edited: The two teens were kind of annoying though.. or maybe it was just the dialogue, either one.

Oh and Raising Hope - freaking hilarious tonight. "So, what's with the rotten chomper, sweetheart?" LOL!

I love How I met you Mother.

Rules of Engagement has gotten much better since the first season as well.

And I liked Gary Unmarried until they chopped it!

I've somehow found myself watching the first two episodes of Mike and Molly and found them pretty enjoyable. I like the concept of watching the show as the two are beginning to date so we can watch the relationship develop. But the secondary characters are atrocious. The leads are great but the three supporting actors are going to kill the show.

My wife and I just watched the pilot tonight and we both enjoyed it. I hadn't realized it was going to go the Heroes or X-Men route where special powers run rampant but liked the show nonetheless.

My wife has always had a thing for Chiklis (male lead) and although I like Julie Benz dating back to her Darla character on Buffy (and a great Married With Children episode) I've never thought she was all that hot. Each to their own, I guess.

Also, you're looking at a male and female that have been married 15 or so years so he might have been much better looking when they first got together. As a matter of fact, in that brief flashback sequence he appeared to not only be better looking but taller also.:)

Personally I didn't like it at all. Very generic imo. But then I wasn't a big fan of Heroes either.

This was the last new network tv show I was going to check out. Of those, the only show that remains on my record list is The Event, but even that may not last very long.

I thought that might have been the worst Glee episode overall. Every now and then they deliver something like this. But I like the show in general, even though I never thought I would.

The event, outsourced, boardwalk empire and the defenders are still on my dvr with the defenders being by far the show I look forward to most with the event one alien encounter from getting the boot.

Fox ordered a full season of Raising Hope, so I created a new thread for it.

Mike and Molly is pretty funny. I hope they tone down the fat jokes a tad, as it is a bit overkill.

I am still watching Running Wilde, although I practically had to force myself to continue watching last night's ep. It's just not funny. Didn't laugh once.

Forgot to watch the next ep of No Ordinary Family, hopefully its on hulu or ABC's website.
