Mike and Molly is pretty funny. I hope they tone down the fat jokes a tad, as it is a bit overkill.

The whole show is based on two fat people dating. I highly doubt they are going to tone down the fat jokes. That defeats the whole purpose of the show.

I didnt say end the fat jokes, of course it's about two fatties. But when every single minute there's a fat joke? It gets old, just tone it down.

... and now we all know why there aren't many shows with large people as the leads. People are just too cruel.

Undercovers got cancelled today. A shame, the show was starting to really hit its stride. Next week they were supposed to start a multi-episode arc. Maybe they started it too late--"mission of the week" stuff is good, but too procedural, especially for a show that's similar to Alias.

Since we are getting closer to mid-season replacements I am looking forward to Chicago Code. It is by the same guy who did the Shield and Terriers. I think it debuts in January on FOX.

Mid-season replacements really means only one thing:

Parks and Rec!

:D

(and I guess V)

That's a surprise and a disappointment. Although I think it gets hurt in part because it is not enough like Alias. I thought the show had potential but Gerald McRaney's role was annoying and well past the point of believability. They were trying to manufacture some conflict that just wasn't working IMO. The same is true with the 3 way relationship that included the ex-lover spy.

When you look at the overall mediocrity of this season (and I may be overrating this season) you'd think they'd give a show a little extra latitude. Just how many of these shows do they have replacements sitting around for? There are a lot of new shows that I'd send to the trash pile in front of Undercovers.

For me, the only mid-season show I'm looking forward to is Body of Evidence. It has the potential to be just another of the "been there, done that" shows but I like the cast and basic premise so I'll give it a try. I don't usually watch any of the sit-coms and I found V unwatchable. That's unusual for me as I love sci-fi and I'm not a very critical viewer.

no talk of The Walking Dead? That pilot was GREAT. I was a little put off by the opening which was a straight rip off of 28 Dyas Later, but once that ended, it was a slow burn until a rush at the end. Cast was great, writing was tight and the direction superb.

not to mention it hit a 3.3 in the ratings which is UNHEARD OF for an AMC show. Just to put in perspective... Mad Men and Breaking Bad, AMC's other "hits" average a .4 and .9.

Yeah, it's a great show but I'm not sure where it fits. The pilot didn't air until Halloween and there's only going to be 6 episodes so it kind of falls through the cracks when you talk about a season of new shows. It's easily the best new show on right now though. IMO, there isn't even a close second out there.

There's already a Walking Dead thread and my post about Undercovers was the first on this thread in a long time. I'm not sure why you think nobody's talking about Walking Dead when there's a big thread about it already.

And I am SICK of people complaining about the 28 Days Later "rip off". People forget that this is an adaptation (and a very accurate one at that) of a comic. The movie and comic actually happened concurrently---there's no evidence that one ripped off the other, despite their similarities.

maybe because I didn't see that thread when I looked at the entire site's message board and this was the entry that came up.

ok... like I said in the other thread, I didn't read the comics, so having no knowledge of it, I was put off by the exact same opening. No need to get so indignant about it.

Fair enough.

Nah, it's not you, I've read that a lot at different message boards and "reviews". I agree, the comparison is inevitable, but I'm guessing the people that have read the comics are much more accepting of it.

Let's assume that the filmmakers also made the connection--hypothetically, would you have preferred they changed something to avoid the comparison, or do what they did and stay true to the original source material?

I was thinking about that after I heard it was adapted straight from the comics and thought Darabount was placed between a rock and hard place there. As someone who has shown incredible ability to adhere AND adapt source material (Shawshank, Green Mile, The Mist), going with his gut was the only way to go and the fact that he just knocked the rest of it out of the park wiped away any residual "hmmmm"-ing I did at the opening, not knowing the history behind it.

I wish Darabount lived in the horror genre full-time. He's been NAILS at it ever since Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, easily the best of the series.

It is going by two names i guess body of evidence and body of proof. It is actually being filmed here in rhode island about 5 minutes from my house. The pilot was lackluster and very Quincy like. If they dont make it so predictable it could work but we will see.

Nah, I probably just screwed it up. It's been awhile since I've heard anything about it and I didn't bother to look up the name before I typed. I know it's been done before but I was hoping the lead character might bring something special to the show.
