he doesnt sucks..he is super talented player..the only problem he need 2 years of development before being a starter in nfl..and arizona cant wait

There is no QB in the draft who won't need time to develop. The failure with Leinart has already cost the Cards one season and at least one more. I wonder with CKW bringing rookies along slowly if it won't be 2 more. So we are looking at 2013 before someone like Newton or Gabbert could begin to turn things around in the AZ.

The best hope for the near future, since I don't see Kolb being available at a price the Cards FO will pay, is to let Skelator handle the job and shore up the defense trying to win 16-13.

Of course that is what they were supposed to have done last off season. Maybe with a new DC it will work this time.

The kid absolutely has ALL of the "PHYSICAL TOOLS" to be an NFL QB. That really can't even be debated. The question is mental.

Without question Newton has the physical tools. He may be one of the most gifted QB with the ultimate prototype body to come out of college in many years. Like any of the available QB's he will need 2-3 years to develop. That is no problem for the Cards for without question we need to sign a FA experience QB capable of starting next season. Terry Bradshaw came into the league as a big running QB. He quickly learned how to be a non running pocket passer who could run if he had to. To even consider Skelton as our starter next year is to throw away the season and maybe many more. His resume consist of 4 games and he did not look all that good in those. The Cards are not so dumb as to think they can start Skelton next year. Often we are not very smart but not that dumb. I do continue to think we need to draft a QB in the 1st or second round depending on just how good the Cards rate the available QBs when we have our #5 pick. If the Cards really think whoever is really a QBOTF then we must take him. If no one fits that mold then we need to take one in round 2 so as to have someone in training. I do not even like having Skelton as our #2 backup. He is much to raw and inexperienced. He needs another 2 years of development if he is to make it in the NFL. The team needs to know we have a QB starting who has done it and been there else they give up before we even start. If we do not come up with a FA QB you can count on Fitz being out of here for sure.

The upcoming team evaluations will tell us all a lot. Long range 2-3 year plans are no longer in vogue in the NFL. The fans do not accept it. The team players no longer accept it. In fact it does not work as movement of players and injuries makes it impractical. Some organizations have models for constantly keeping a team competitive. We should observe and copy what works. Some teams allow xxx dollars per position and normally get rid of even stars before they have no value. They do not overpay or under pay. They will normally develop a star QB and keep him for as long as possible because the QB is the key to any teams success. What is the longest we have gone with any QB in the past decade or so. I suspect not very long which is an indicator of our lack of success. At my last look Kiper had dropped both Mallet and Newton into the second round. I sort of doubt that Newton

The good teams in the NFL have some good backups and do not use raw rookies for the most part. There are a few like Denver that brought on their rookie QB but others have decent backups like Kolb. You can almost count on having to use your backup QB at some point in a season and if you do not have a decent one you may drop out of contention for a playoff spot real quick.

What is the longest we have gone with any QB in the past decade or so. I suspect not very long which is an indicator of our lack of success. At my last look Kiper had dropped both Mallet and Newton into the second round. I sort of doubt that Newton will make it out of the first round and I doubt Mallet will make it out of the first round as there are to many teams in need of a QBOTF. Any team with any sense will try their very best to have one in training. If not you will live off of other teams cast offs.

Newton will be drafted in the top 15 IMO...Mallet is probable very late 1st early 2nd IMO. Newton is absolutely worth taking a year or two to develop...Just please sign freaking McNabb to bridge the gap for that period of time!

Something tells me that if Mike Vick can grasp an NFL offense this kid probably can :)

I have heard a few NFL QBs being interviewed that sounded like they never got out of high school. I wonder how they grasp a complicated play book. Then you have guys like Brady and Manning that know the playbook better than the coaches. Some people can process information in their brain faster than others. Science has not figured out exactly why but it scientifically true. I suspect Manning, Rivers, Brady are fast processors. It is nothing you can teach it is just is a fact. Some people have photographic memories and that would put them at a great advantage against a dumb a--. Some people have tremendous peripheral vision. Oscar Robertson the great NBA player had eyes that bulged out and when they measured his peripheral vision it was far better than the normal player. A very big plus for a basketball player. I have read that taking a QB with the first position in the draft is the greatest gamble in all of sports. Sounds about right to me as these guys will get $20 mil or more and may never be any good what so ever in the NFL. Sounds sort of like Matt Leinart. He had the luxury in college with being surrounded by some of the best players in the nation which may have disguised his faults and of course you never can look inside anyone's head. Some teams must have saw something wrong as 11 other teams past on him. I thought he was as close to a sure thing as you can get. Who was the idiot high #1 QB pick of ours years ago that never even played for us. I think in the end he never even played in the NFL or if he did it was not long. Tim Tebow had his shortcomings but I think that guy has the tools, is more than smart enough, and the drive and desire to end up as a more than just a good QB. We will see next year or the year after.

Oh.... I thought it had to do with my Geno Toretta reference! :p

Why don't we use Johnny Lujack in some of references? He made the Bears go. I also liked his name and being a QB from Notre Dame did not hurt in Chicago.
