This is silly. The Panthers are 6-2 and have scored 47 points than they've allowed. The Rams are 2-5 and have allowed 89 points more than they have scored. The Panthers are probably the second best team in the NFC now. The Rams are in a three way race to be the second worst team in the NFC. The Panthers are MUCH MUCH MUCH better than the Rams. You can't just compare two positions and say they are equal.

You left out my comments about the o-line... The Panthers started Vincent and Bridges. Two dudes who couldn't cut it with the Cards!!! Yet, we made them look like pro-bowlers...

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see our biggest ground-game output next week. Especially if Haslett looks at the game tapes and decides that he's going to try to take away the short middle routes by dropping a lineman back in coverage, I could see Edge and Hightower taking it to a Rams defense that could be on its heels because it's afraid of getting burned by Warner's arm.

82, are you uninformed or just happy to wallow in misery? We very much wanted to keep Vincent and he wanted to be here. The contract holdup fiasco with Fitz cost us Vincent.

I don't remember about Bridges. Didn't Denny Green let him go?

Good points Pariah.
The RAMS can be had using the ground game. The key IMO is not how Haslett approaches stopping the CARDS unstoppable passing attack, it's how Al Saunders decides to attack the CARDS errattic defense. The homerun to Avery is nice but it's not the way to beat the CARDS IMO.
It may come down to:
a) can the CARDS stop the RAMS/SJ from scoring TD's on long, sustained drives(keeping Warner/Fitz/Boldin on the sidelines)which is what St Louis likes to do with a healthy SJ.
b) can the RAMS keep Fitz & co in front of them without getting gashed on the ground with draws & screens on 3rd & long.

Anyway, wrong thread to get into this.
Later in the week.

Crazy talk the Rams still are and the bottom of the NFC we had BETTER beat them. The Rams are still a bad team I am not sure why people think they have turned the corner or something they still have only 2 wins right? in week 8 yeah they sound really tough.

When Coach Whisenhunt was on Doug and Wolf this morning he said that after the game the Carolina coaches told him their gameplan was to shut down the run. A lot of our pass plays were runs that were checked out of because of how the Panther's D was lined up. That's why Whis wasn't at all upset about our run production, only the fumble.

I think that game showed that forcing the Cardinals to be a one dimensional passing team doesn't mean that you can get to Warner. Since the Jets game he's been much better protecting the ball. I liked how we went 5 wide to negate their ability to blitz. Based on what other teams have tried to do to slow down this offense, I agree that it would be in the Rams best interest to drop extra defenders in to coverage.

2 weeks ago after beating Dallas we were the best team and heading to a 1st round bye. After losing to Carolina we're the worst team and everyone should be cut and fired. After we crush St. Louis the board will be back to manic celebration mode.

people were calling for Edge's and Rolle's head after the Dallas game as well, a couple of people called for Levi's. Those call don't change with wins or losses.

True but the general tone of the board right now is total freak out. We're just used to years of being let down.

really? I don't see the freak out. Are people questioning some stuff that happened yesterday? Sure, especially that horrific 4th and 16 play, but overall I think people are pretty stoked with our passing game, frustrated with our running game/defense and questioning some of the coaches moves... probably a good balance for a team that's 4-3.

I mean, when I think freak out, I think QB controversy fights/Told you so/Whiz is an idiot! threads.

We play three straight divisional games:

at Rams
vs. Niners
at Seahawks

The the other schedules in the West:

Hawks: Eagles, at Dolphins, Cards
49ers: BYE, at Cards, Rams
Rams: Cards, at Jets, at Niners

Three games, and a real chance to take a stranglehold on the division like never before. Each one of these upcoming games is actually much more important to our postseason hopes than the Panthers game was.

Mission accomplished! :smiliefan:

Furthermore... the Cards are 7-3. We've only played 4 home games.

4-0 at home (1-0 in division - two at home division games left)
3-3 on the road. 3-0 in division, losses to Jets, Skins and Panthers--all 3 have winning records and two of them were very close).

4-0 in division so far with 3 of those on the road.

I really like what I see from this team. We have a tough back half of the season, but only 2 road games left. We've already won more on the road than in the previous several seasons. (2 wins last year... 1 the year before and 0 before that, I think?)

Swept ALL divisional ROAD games this year! First time that's happened since 1968! Still two more divisional home games left, so hope we can sweep ALL the games this year. Wow, what a year this is turning out to be!
