It helps them that they will be at home.

I remember the game after the Chicago Bears Monday Night meltdown, our next game was in Oakland which was a winless team. People here thought we'd be angry and just rip the Raiders. Instead, we were flatter than a tortilla and were down two scores before we even knew what hit us. The Raiders were 2-14 that year and one win was against us.

We were also very poorly coached that year with a rookie QB running the show, who turned out to be mentally soft, on top of it all. That MNF meltdown was merely an example of everything.

Two totally different scenarios. This season, we have an awesome coach and a mentally tough QB who has another reason to kick the crap out of the Raiders aside from earning another "W."

Obviously, we shouldn't be overlooking anyone, but as it stands, the Raiders are much less of a threat to us in Oakland than Washington was at our house.

I agree and I also think all games are "trap" games.

I keep saying it: Carr is dangerous. 4 tds last week. And he's too dumb to know any better. He'll try anything. Burn PP for a couple TDs. We have to stay focused. He's good and we have no real tape to plan for him.

This.

Cards better not come out flat and let the Raiders hang around. Protect the ball, don't turn it over and score some points.

Carr can fling it pretty good.

Was just listening to Sirius NFL channel and Rich Gannon said while he has hope for the Raiders, they're just not very good right now. Carr has a bright future but the team has no help for him, no decent running backs, oline is work in progress, no good wide receivers, defense suspect... etc. Not that I'm saying it'll be easy, just relaying his comments.

I was analyzing the Raiders, not our team. My post was in response to a couple of them discussing whether the Raiders would be fired up or not after a disheartening, close loss to a good team.

Yeah, we're a bit better now than in 2006! :p

I'm looking at the schedule, as do a lot of coaches/GM's, as breaking down into four quarters. We were 3-1 in the first quarter, and got a good start (Wash) in the second. But if we want to duplicate our first quarter results the Oakland game is essential, with Philly (H) and Dallas (A) coming up next. I still have nightmares over last year's opener, which cost us the playoffs.
