Achievement Metrics claims it can forecast whether college prospects are at greater risk for future off-field problems by dissecting their speech patterns from media interviews. Automated text analysis is conducted through a computer model that measures more than 100 different factors, including the use of individual words, adjectives and verb tenses.

Creepy.

Intrigued by the possibility that clichés like "110 percent" and "taking it to the next level" might actually have value, I attended a 15-minute presentation at a hotel near where player workouts are being held.

Are those phrases really what's being measured? I'm not sure, but the whole thing leaves me feeling dirty and skeptical.

"We were told a long time ago by the psychologist we employ that the best barometer of future behavior is past behavior," Indianapolis general manager Bill Polian told me during an interview on Sirius NFL Radio. "We abide by that and try to make decisions along those lines."

Could they bring a discrimnation lawsuit against the NFL if this was the reasoning a player dropped in the draft?

I can see being put off by Gerrard Warren's, "How are the clubs in the Phoenix area" question during the combine. However, the study of the verb tenses and word choice seems to be rather biased towards specific vernaculars

That's what I was trying to say, but wasn't elequent enough to pull it off...

wait...

How far would my draft stock have dropped if I had been tested?!

We're really returning to the "stigma of criminality", but instead of measuring skulls and looking for patterns we're looking at the words?

How do these two things jive? :

The Pro Bowl running back has become the NFL's newest poster child for criminal behavior. Lynch was recently arrested in Southern California on three misdemeanor weapons charges. Last summer, he pled guilty to a misdemeanor traffic violation following a hit-and-run incident.

Asked whether he was satisfied with Buffalo's pre-draft scouting of Lynch, Brandon said, "He's a tremendous young man. We certainly felt very good about him and do feel very good about him. We'll see how this (gun) situation plays out and go from there."

This doesn't even take into account that they know he was in possession of marijuana as well, but wasn't charged.

From Merchandising, to Endorsements, to Ticket Sales, to contract length.....

When hundreds of millions of dollars are riding on some of these picks.....

A little profiling can't be that bad right? :help:

The passengers in the car were in possession of the marijuana (at least they took responsibility for it), and since he didn't test positive on a drug test afterwards they won't charge him.

Still don't look good for him.

Big surprise, people that go to college yet still insist on talking like uneducated street trash and are millionaires yet look homeless may be at a greater risk to do wrong than the clean cut boy who says "yes sir". Who would have ever thought it? I'm no phychology expert but is this really that hard to comprehend? If you look like trash and talk like trash then you're a duck dammit!!! :)

Anyone stupid enough to look at Marshawn Lynch and think he is an upstanding citizen needs to stop watching football and go learn to read or something.

This system should be given to us a few days before the first Tuesday in November. Imagine the heartache we could prevent!

we certainly hear abut those who get into trouble, but a serious majority of those who are being all lumped together do not get into any trouble whatsoever.

Absolutely. Anyone who talks like that either is stupid or wants to be stupid. You dont go to college for atleast 3 years and accidentally speak like you've never been to school a day in your life. It will keep you from obtaining any sort of decent job should your career end early and people with brains or class dont typically associate with idiots so you would be relegated to a posse of criminals and losers who will eventually drag you down further.
