Be careful. Gambling on ncaa and nfl games is like checking into "hotel california!". You can checkin whenever you like but you can never leave.
I lost loads of money before.
However read the line movements. You will get an idea on the outcome of some games.
Also a tip don't parlay!
In 2008 MNF vs. The 49ers the cards were favored -14. A good bet was against the cards because you just don't give a team 2 free TDs. In the first qtr the 49ers were up 14-0 so the cards needed 28.5 points to cover the spread.
I don't know how they do it but vegas odd makers are geniuses in calculating the spread with injuries, home field advantage, weather, coaching schemes, etc.

I think it's a good cover.

I would also take Dallas over niners 3.5 I think.

What's the line on the Pittsburgh/Seattle game? Whatever it is, I'd bet it's not enough.

EDIT: It's 14. I still think that's not enough.

I would give you my two cents, but my locks last week were Pitsburgh and KC . A good practice is to take my locks and go the opposite way :D.

OK, but be forewarned.

I used to do online betting and while it was kind of fun at the time, just know once you give a mail address and a phone number you will be bombarded with phone calls and junk mail. The online casinos are usually offshore and not regulated so once one gets them, they share your info with all.

I also think the Rams could be the giants straight-up, so getting 6 seems crazy to me.

The odds seem unbelievable to many. It is MNF, the rams could be really up, pumped and scheme for this game, the giants could slack off, the weather could be really cold and it becomes a close low scoring game.

How would you feel if you bet on the giants, up 24-13, 2 min warning in the 4th qtr only to have the giants let the rams score an easy TD while the game clock runs out, 24-20 final giants fail to cover you lose.

I would have made loads of money if I bet on the cards during the 2008/2009 playoffs.

I'm no expert of course but be wary of home underdogs and Division games which are more often than not closer than "expected". And the line is not set according to relative merits on the field but rather how the bookies think people will bet.

The biggest bet I ever made in my life was the Cards to beat the Falcons that year. I knew they were going to handle them. Then I made another big bet on the Cards to beat the Eagles. I left Caroilna and Pittsburgh alone.

I bet every week but I only do parlays. I know people think they are a suckers bet but I hit a 5 team and 6 team last week. Two $5 bets won me $300. I do increase my odds by only playing ties win parlays. Which is a good thing because I had the Cards -7 on both of them. I also only bet $20 a week, so I don't have a ton riding on the games.

That's a pretty smart way to do it I think.

Gambling is more about fun than anything, it's not a long term money maker for 95% of the people who do it.

It used to be and I think still largely is true that you can do better in college most of the time, bet on big time programs to cover on the cupcakes.

You might give 40 points on say an Alabama vs cupcake, and yet that's the best bet you might make that week.

I think trying to make a living off of sports betting is itself a sucker bet. You sacrifice a little with parlays but you gain it back in pure fun, IMO. It can add an incredible amount of excitement to the games even with small dollar bets. If you're betting for enjoyment rather than strictly as an income source you're already a step up on the guy who considers himself a serious sports bettor (IMO).

Too injured, IMO. And the Giants at home are getting Tuck back too.
I just don't think the Giants are all that good even with Tuck. Not to mention, they're going to have a really beat up Nicks, too.

Most likely going to win $62.10 on my parlay after the Falcons game is over as I have them +3.

It's a shame I gambled away $60 on the Ravens and Mayweather decision so I only made $2.10 but I think this is a good start for a beginner. :D

Andy Reid and the Eagles **** the bed tonight... Should have been an easy win and cover. Too many stupid turnovers early, Vick goes down late, Eagles blow a 10 point 4th quarter lead... Ryan looks terrible all night until late 3rd and the Falcons pull one out of their ass...

Im pissed

I knew the Falcons were for sure going to win, the NFL has some pretty amazing trends. ;) Home opener, prime time and plus the fact they never lose at home and were coming off a blowout loss.

Well, they sure are lucky Philly had all those turnovers in the red zone in the 1st half, because they were on the verge of being blown out...
