You people are on CRACK!! Mike Martz would be a blessing. The Cardinals personnel is PRIMED for a Mike Martz offense. I can't believe you would want no part of a coach that got his team to a Super Bowl and had one of the highest flying offenses in recent memory.

Seriously, you could do A LOT worse than Mike Martz.

Coming from a Seattle fan that means a lot. Of course you want Martz to ruin the talent here, just like he did in St. Louis

only the Bidwills could make a move this idiotic - thus, consider it written in stone.

Waaaaaait a minute. They're a lot better? At least that much is seriously debatable. That offense was BANGIN' the entire time that Martz was there. Martz and a decent DC could do wonders with the Cardinals personnel.

For starters, Martz is actually serious about the offensive line. I'm not kidding in the least. At absolute minimum, Martz would put you in position to put skads of points on the board and compete, even if it meant shoot outs. That's a lot better than what you're doing now.

Funny, that's what people said Green would do when he came to Arizona. Didn't quite work out that way.

I wonder if we would get Larry Marmie as DC again?

I would rather have Martz than Fassel. Martz wasn't as bad when he had Lovie Smith as his DC.

And just for grins, look at the year Kitna is having (and his head still appears to be connected to his sholders).

Green also didn't show up with Daunte Culpepper and Randy Moss in his pocket. Martz has proven what he can do with an accurate QB and two very good receivers. One could even argue that the personnel in AZ is BETTER than what he had in St. Lou.

Wanna guess which receiver is currently number three in receiving yards in the NFL (and was number one coming into last weekend) despite having Jon Kitna as his QB?

53-32 as Head Coach
Offensive Coordinator year Rams won S.B.
Head Coach next year 10-6 record
14-2 next year when Rams went to S.B. and lost to Pats
8-8 next year, but still made playoffs and won in the first round

Who is a better option? 73 year old Vermeil? Ron Rivera whose defense gave up 31 points to the Dolphins and 20 first half points to the Cardinals? Bill Cower or Jeff Fisher who would never come here in a million years?

After years of watching this team hire no-name "up and coming" coordinators, I'm ok with hiring a proven head coach. Of course, I was happy when we hired DG, so who knows.

By the way, so far this year, the Lions are averaging close to five more points per game and are currently ranked 17th in yards per game. Last year without Martz they ranked 27th in yards per game. Clearly he's improved the offense in eight games.

There will no dount be DC's and OC's available this offseason. If Cowher stays with the Steeler's I would think Ken Wisenhunt will be available why not make a push for him? Martz is crazy as a head coach. He leaves QB's exposed and take stupid risks i.e. the week or or 3 game in Denver in 02. on a key spot instead of taking the field goal he goes for it Denver stops and scores the winning TD.It wasn't the last time I saw him go on 4th down when he should have kicked the F.G. or punted. Does this make him a bad coach? No but it shows he makes bad decisions...then again so do the Bidwells. If he becomes head coach you can forget about the Cards going anywhere as long as he is head coach.

How is the Lion offense doing under Martz? It seems to be getting better every week and Kitna, Roy Williams and Kevin Jones are having their best years ever. If we could have Martz as the head coach and have him keep Pendergast to run the defense perhaps it could be a winning combination. However I would not let Martz be the GM.

And, with a 20-3 over the best team in the NFL, he wouldn't go into a shell and assist the team in losing the game...He'd keep the foot on the gas and try to "put a half a hundred on them", to quote Barry Switzer.

I don't get this - why the hell do people want to keep Pendy? The defense is just as bad as the freaking offense. We can't stop the run, get to the Quarterback or cover anyone. For pete's sake, we made the Packers look like their Super Bowl heyday and we made the Raiders look like a reall NFL team. the defense sucks just as much as the offense.

Ron Rivera has a proven system... he had one of the all time best defenses last season in terms of yardage and points allowed..... you're going to hold 2 figgen games against him? You can put both of those debacles on the shoulders of Rex Grossman

No, but against a team with a horrible run defense he will start a 40 yr old backup QB (Chris Chandler) and pass the ball 16 times to start the game with three of those getting picked. They will then lose the game 27-7, miss out on the playoffs. Then, after the game, he throws the QB under the bus.

It better not be the case. It reeks of wanting nothing more than ticket sales.

When are these owners going to get it. This is another guy that can't controll a game. Just tries to outgun everybody.

B

Lets hire a football consultant and go that way 1st. Get a new GM in there and let him hire a head coach.

I'm for 1) Charlie Weiss , 2) A young up and comer with a hard edge to him, 3) Ron Rivera or similar DC type.

Someone on the Cards website saw on the So Cal news that the Cards are
set to offer huge $$$ to sign Pete Carroll. Everything we hear now is just
speculation. I like Wisenhunt-young, proven coordinator and hopefully the
a$$kicker Bill Cowher is.

Those of you stating how Martz has made Detroit better... Please keep in mind that in Detroit Martz is the OC, which is the best position for him. As a head coach, Martz is a head case!!!

EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just came over here to post that. He's a prototypical OC, not a head coach. He let his situation spiral out of control in St. Louis. It's just like Dirk Koetter- he's a OC, not a HC.

This rumor better have no merit

As much as I've slammed Martz with I think is deserved criticism, he is a pretty darned smart football mind. The Rams gig was his first head coaching opportunity and it came relatively quickly. Qb coach in '98 for Washington, OC in '99 for the Rams and then handed the keys to a Super Bowl winner. He was obvioulsy in over his head as a head coach but I wonder if it's possible for a guy to learn from a slice of humble pie?

I think the Card's will have a pretty decent selection of candidates and Martz wouldn't necessarily be a bad choice. Leinart is his type of qb and could learn and run the system fairly quickly.
