I thought of that too. I think maybe Andrews for a split second worried about being too close to the pylon and it broke his concentration. I wonder if when they practice that play if it comes out earlier. there was a double clutch by Jackson if IIRC.

Agreed. Jackson didn’t do Andrew’s any favors with the throw.

Cold football thrown at a downward angle.

I thought it was good enough because it was a relatively soft pass as he was waiting for him clear Benford (sp?)

Truth is they should have never been in that position. No idea what Harbaugh was thinking going for 2 so early in the 3rd.

Obviously it hit him in the hands but to be honest that throw was inaccurate it was too low. If you watch the replay closely and forget about the bobble and drop for a second, it's not even clear to me that Andrews is in the endzone if he catches it. Because the ball was low he slowed to reach down for and kind of started sliding down to try and cradle it after the initial bobble.

You HAVE to catch that ball but a better throw makes it easier. Very surprised because those are the types of throws leading guys, that Lamar is usally good at

He lost his footing trying to secure the pass. Jackson threw a great pass. I feel bad for Andrews. I have been in that position (obviously not at that level), but I do feel bad for him.

Slight disagreement. The downward angle of the throw is an issue because he's aiming it.

However, I think its a combination of waiting until he clears and making sure he doesn't run outta real estate. If he anticipates it early its possible he's tackled before the endzone. By waiting he's just trying not to screw the pooch and lofted him a soft ball. Its why it being behind isnt so bad because of the timing he just needs to not run out of bounds.

Not the best ball, but for waiting until a guy is open its still pretty good enough. If he threw a downward pass with zip then I'd fault it more. Andrews dropped it twice on that play.

Think he helped save a woman's life last year on a plane. Seems like a great guy so I hate it for him.

Honestly the fumble was a worse play imo.

Agreed he should have caught it but the ball was a bit low and that's why he didn't catch it clean and then trying to cradle it he slid down.

has to be caught, but not a great throw

Not sure that's a disagreement, Andrews HAS to catch that ball. I'm just saying the throw wasn't a great throw, it's not clear to me Andrews would have scored after he bobbled it, if he catches it cleanly he scores but after the bobble, if he catches it, he's not in the endzone and probably short.

He had his hands down like he was expecting it to be somewhat low but still had to reach even lower.

With the weather etc you can somewhat understand but an NFL TE has to make that catch. Bad game for Andrews

yeah bad game for sure. too many turnovers from Jackson as well. one fumble was not even forced. one could argue that is the worst play of the game by a mile. and Andrews fumble was indeed punched, but he's got to put that ball away. I this weekend there were a lot of really poor turnovers by the teams that lost.
