Suns @ Cavaliers Monday game thread 1-20-2025

Only two more games remaining on the five game road trip.

The Suns play at the Cavaliers on Monday and the Nets on Wednesday.

Cavaliers are 34-6. They play the Timberwolves later on Saturday.

Phoenix is now 21-20 after beating the Pistons. They are 2-1 on the road trip thus far.

This will be a test. Hopefully Beal is back because I don't see Tyus staying on the court long. Beal is a better defender and makes defenses work more. Garland and Mitchell are beyond a handful. Mobley and Allen in their frontcourt means the Suns won't be able to attack the basket even if they wanted to.

I don't expect a win but I'd like to see a respectable close game that is winnable.

Cavs remind me very much of the Suns a few years ago. Team without a ton of star power, but the parts fit together really well and they bust their asses off, night after night.

I think Boston overwhelms them in the playoffs though.

As long as we see some slow down the opposing scoring in the lane this game, I think we stand a chance to win this. Hopefully Nick can deter some of the pours interior defense we have been showing all season long.

An embarrassing loss to the Cavs/Gilbert should piss off Ishbia. I'm not sure if a pissed off Ishbia is a good thing or not. I feel a little slow since I didn't think of the Dan Gilbert link until now. I wonder if Ishbia will be at the game. I don't recall seeing him in Detroit but he's based in Michigan so it wouldn't be surprising if he's close to the team.

It is just shocking how frequently beal is injured. I had always thought he had a string of big injuries. I didn’t know he just went out for 4-15 games every 2-3 games he played. It’s crazy.

I was reading it's the same for Jimmy Butler. no one really wants Beal. We will end up having to wait this out a couple more seasons until the Beal contract is over.
