Well

"Firings from losing organizations seems to be the common thread along with promotion through attrition"

I'd like for every OC and DC to resign their current posts and apply for ours...but that ain't happening.

Wilson (DB coach) was farred (that's southern ahia dialect for fired)....but who else was?

Wylie (olinecoach) was a victim of his HC being fired.

Solomon was fired a long time ago.

Not sure about the Dekester.

Call me Helen Keller...but I just don't see firing (farrin) as a common theme.

Ford was fired as the receiver coach from the Dolphins December 30, 2003. That is whose place Jerry Sullivan took. Now that is freaky. So there is a thread here, but then coaches are "harred to be farred" in your vernacular.

Wally, if you continue to focus discussion on yourself, rather than on football related subjects, you will be invited to leave.

Narcissism is not tolerated here.

Astonishing. I get ripped for making football commentary , and I get censured. You might check the subject of any thread I have started and tell me how it is not football related. I have no control over anyone's direction or comments to me.

Narcissism? You've got to be joking. When does self esteem cross over to narcissism? Goodbye.

Wally, no worries, man. All is hunky dory.

Tango, why you feel the incessant need to make childish comments in an argument/perceived argument/discussion without contributing a single thing to it is still beyond me. Grow up, please, and stop calling others immature. Don't be the pot, man.

I don't agree with "blind faith". Worst organization in the history of the NFL and they take a flyer on a bad rep coach and a bunch of castoffs. Not much of a success formula there. But I guess this assistant coach thing is similar to the free agent rejection syndrome. Who would willingly come to a lousy team with a bad reputation for treating its employees below the league standard ? Castoffs and unknowns. Enjoy the new cast. I don't share your optimism.

Hey Wally, maybe the Cardinals will finally change their name and I can celebrate your complete departure from my life.

Maybe lithium or Valium would help.

I asked a couple of people whose opinion I respect and they were very positive about Wood and Pendergast. I personally don't know either one. Pendergast was tagged as an up-and-comer by many. Neither are "sure things" but both look like good choices based on their skill sets. The one thing almost all his coaches have in common is strong teaching skills, which is exactly what Green promised to hire.

Harry's Comments

I had to read five pages of rediculous comments before coming across a reasonable post. Thanks Harry. And apologies to others, like Jeff G., who had posted on this subject as their entries made sense, also. But they were few and far between.

Tango, you never cease to amaze me. How you feel justified in calling others childish is beyond me. What exactly was your reason for posting little one and two-liners earlier in this thread? Other than for insulting purposes? Eh? Wasn't that childish and immature? Same things you accuse others of?

But please, don't let reason and fact get in the way of you having fun, Tango.

Back to the Staff

Thanks to Harry for getting this thread back on topic.

My thoughts on the new staff.

HC: Dennis Green

A great hire, much different than past hires. Cardinals picked a short list, and went after them. After the first round of interviews chose Green as first in line, then held second interview to confirm, then decided get him here and made it happen.

Asst Coaches:

Off Coord: Alex Wood

A hire that fits what Dennis said he was looking for, a staff of teachers that can work together without major confrontations.
Came from the Cinci staff working with Wide Receivers.

Running Backs: Kirby Wilson

Another hire similar to Wood. Came from Tampa Bay working with Running Backs. Has worked with some former cardinal running backs(T. Jones, M. Pittman). Tampa got more out of them than the Cardinals did.

Quarterbacks: unfilled.

My concern is that Dennis has not completed his staff yet. I am hoping he continues to interview at the Senior Bowl and fills the rest of these out quickly so that his staff can have time to work together prior to the voluntary training camp.

Wide Receivers: Robert Ford

I don't know much about him, I do have a concern because there seemed to be differences between he and Keyshawn Johnson this year. Was it all Keyshawn? Or was Ford trying to keep Keyshawn and Gruden fired Ford because of differences?

Offensive Line:

I don't know much about him, either. Came from the Chicago Bear staff, along with Pat Flaherty(Tight Ends).

Tight Ends:

I don't know much about him, either. Came from the Chicago Bear staff, along with OL coach. One comment, the two of them have worked closely before, could be a good working relationship that may help the cardinals.

Defensive Coordinator: Clancy Pendergast

From Harry, an up and comer, I admit I know little about him.
Came from the Cleveland staff working with Linebackers.

Defensive Line: Deke Pollard

Out of coaching since 1999, may be somewhat rusty?

Linebackers: Frank Bush

Coached Denver's Special Teams. I know little about him.

Defensive Backs: Richard Solomon

This is the one coaching hire that has received the most fire.
Many people see this one as cronyism. I am willing to see what happens.

Strength and Conditioning: Steve Wetzel

I see this as a major difference. I see the team program changing
significantly in this area. I do not know if this will change things this year but by the following year we should see a difference.

Special Teams: unfilled

I hope this gets filled soon. This hire needs to have some input into some of the draft since that is often who gets used for special teams.

Overall:
I like the Green hiring. I see the change in the offseason program showing some dividends this year with more impact the following year. I also believe that Green (with the possible exception of Solomon) will change members of the coaching staff with less issue than Mac. I also like the fact that Green wants a teaching staff because of the youth on this roster.
