Think back to about week 12, (probably earlier for some). Remeber everyone screaming to gut the entire coaching staff and bring in new blood? Well folks, here it is. Until we all see how Denny "massages" all the new facets of the team together, we will never really know.

Remember, sometimes, (though not often enough with the Cards), you get what you asked for.

I was looking for a big name HC and we got one.
I was looking for a big name staff and we didn't.
But, this is Denny's team. Coach Green has too much ego not to succeed. I think this staff will be fine. When they prove to me that they aren't, then I'll bitch.

Guys I understand soem of the frustration on the hirings only b/c most of you (inclduing mysefl) never heard of these guys. Looking at their Bios's it doesnt seem that any of them "arent qualified"

I guess I am just wondering who you would ahve wanted instead?

1. OC- (Dont say Fassell coz it never would have happened)
2. DC
3. LB's
4. Secondary
5. Running backs

etc etc

If your gonna bitch about the staff please enlighten us all on who the Cards should have hired!

I agree that these guys all sound qualified from their bios. Plus Coach Green says he thinks these guys are going to have good chemistry - that's a pretty good start! They may not be the "dream team" coaching staff everyone has been hoping for so far - but they're here now! At the very least we should give them a chance before we write them off...it's going to be an exciting season!

Thank you. :D

The real "Nightmare Staff" was Mac & Co. We can only do better with our new staff.

I am comfortable with Coach Green choosoing his staff based on his track record. Kudos to ownership for eating all the old contracts and letting Green bring in all his own crew.

Look at Lovie Smith's situation in Chicago. Almost all of Jauron's assistants are still there. He has very little say in picking his staff, at least this season. I like our situation much better.

OK let's turn this around tell us (again) whom you wanted as a HC & the 2 coordinators....

I admit it, I wanted the Fassel - Bugel - Rhodes power trio!! The biggest reason I'm not disappointed with Denny being hired is the Cards brass picked the guy "they" wanted & landed him. (Unbelievable) Something tells me Fassel (1 Time Super Bowl Loser) is carrying a bit of a chip on his shoulder as he seems to be the odd man out right now..

Okay here goes. If the Cards were going to go with a recycled pro coach, I wanted Fassell. My feeling for Fassell was;

1. Offensive emphasis
2. Comes with a current staff that had success in the NFC East which would require some tweeking at worst.
3. Familiarity with the organization.

If the Cards went out on a limb and went for an OC to bump up, it would have to be a Mularkey type. Young, agressive, without burn out. Disclaimer is no staff. Surprise would be to hire young guns. Not safe, but exciting.

My unrealistic reach would have been Tedford from Cal.

1. Green also has an offensive emphasis and his offenses have ranked much higher in production than Fassel's.

2. Fassel would have brought his entire staff? Where is his staff now? Which coaches are better than Green's staff and have they been offered jobs with new teams?

3. You got me on this one...But it certainly didn't help Coach Mac.

Wally, I know it's just your opinion and everyone is enititled to their own...but these are hardly solid reasons to be so down on Green before he has even coached a game.

Re: Dennis Green's coaching expertise. Well it looks like Tice is not going to be fired. Neither it seems is Dungy...or Billick going to be asked to leave. Thomas just got a promotion from Atlanta. Salisbury might join soon. Is he the inmate???

Uh, gee Wally, that's what they did. The guy's young, works well with position players, and supposedly has a fresh outlook (from what I can gather in bios, looking what he did in Cincy, etc). So you never heard of our guy. Big friggin' deal. I'd be willing to wager you'd never heard of Mularkey as a coach before he became OC either. Or, if you had, you weren't expecting him to become the explosive OC-now head coach-he became.

So, in this respect, you got your wish. Don't close your eyes and ignore it. You asked for it-you got it.

Uh, gee Stout , I said Mike Mularkey for head Coach not OC. It's amazing someone asks for my opinion and the sniper's focus in. This is like bait and trap. Can anyone on this forum read and follow a thread? If you want to take shots at my opinions, try following the thread back a few posts. Otherwise you miss the point and your shots aren't valid. Yes, I have heard of Mularkey. I even remeber when he played tight end at U of Florida. Don't you remember that I am the biased one who only likes state of Florida players ? So, based on others preconceived notions and psychic abilities I am an " expert " on Florida players. Remember that one? Taking shots in the forum is easy. Try the PM route, if you would like to match wits and knowledge.

First, sorry you took the wrong tone from my post. I started out with a 'Leave it to Beaver' reference...thought you'd get that, being older (no offense), but you hadn't, so you were offended. I personally take no offense at your taking offense at the confusion (say that 3 times real fast!)

As to your post? Went back and, sure enough, I did misread it. No biggie. Of course, your hideous sentence structure and grammar allowed me to misread it, but I hate having to stick to proper grammar while posting myself, so I'm not here to call the kettle black. I'll apologize for misreading the post, as you meant raising him FROM OC to HC.

Of course, you did dodge the Mularkey as a coach point. I never said you didn't know him as a player...but I'm pretty sure you didn't know much about him as a coach before he became OC, which was one of my points.

Finally, I will take mild offense at your 'challenge' to PM with me. If you're going to get holier-than-thou, act like you're too smart for me and pretend to have a higher IQ or something (I doubt it-not an insult, as you may be on my plane, but I approach genius level), then I have to take mild offense. No, nix that...I have to laugh. I mean, really, trying to play the neighborhood tough on a message board? C'mon. Play nicer than that.

I figured something out quite a while ago and have been attempting to deal with it. The internet is fantastic but is single dimensional, wher it is difficult to read a posters mood. My challenge to PM was not meant to be the neighborhood toughie, but rather to not bore the rest of the readers and to avoid setting myself up to others. I enjoy a dialogue. This setting is impersonal at best. I have read your posts in the past and have appreciated most and labelled you as moderate. I totally blew the " Uh , gee Wally" reference. I think it is shell shock, as a few , when getting personal have referred to my pseudonym as " stupid and childish". I just assumed this was more of the same.

Now the hideous sentence structure reference, I will take umbrage to and with. So if we are back on a level plane, "what in hell was the original post about. ? :D

At the risk of offending some, it is easy to get confused in this forum. There are interesting contributors and then there is the other end of the spectrum. I think it best that I lurk for awhile, although, I do take pride that some of my "new threads" do have a long life. Could be that dissent makes for livelier discussion than " butt kissing " love notes.

P.S. I'll be going back to review my hideous sentence structure and grammar "faux pas"s.

Actually I misspelled it. I meant to spell

adj.
Lacking or exhibiting a lack of reverence; disrespectful.
Critical of what is generally accepted or respected; satirical:

Your comment would be;

ir·rel·e·vant

Unrelated to the matter being considered
