Trailer dropped today. Some people are saying that the Switch 2 is using Nvidia's DLSS tech. That allows underpowered hardware to renders games at a lower resolution while upscaling them so they look good and run smoothly. Also, the screen and controllers are both bigger which is good. I always thought the controllers were on the small side. When I would play Wii Sports with my kids it would be a little annoying. That excessory to turn your controllers into a full blown controller is going to feel odd in your hands and is hideous. I know the old version was terrible and this looks just like an updated version of that.

WIth the Switch, you just buy a Pro controller and be done with it. I remember liking Joy-Cons early, but after awhile, every pair has connection issues of some kind. I've got 3 or 4 pairs of joy-cons and just about all of them have some sort of connection issue. My Pro controllers work really well. This will be an eventual purchase, but I have a feeling the price point is going to be really high, especially since it doesn't have any other brand new consoles to compete with right now.

interesting. I only had a problem with 1 joy-con controller. The rest were flawless. Once I replaced the one I was having issues with never had the problem again. We just played it last weekend even though they have been sitting on the charger station for months. I figured we would at least have an issue with one of them. Nope. The pro-controllers are light years better than that accessory which feels awful and awkward in your hand.

That was one of the clips I think that drove people to believe they are using NVDIA'S DLSS. To me it makes sense. You can only squeeze so much hardware power into that small form factor even if it's on a much smaller screen.

No way they could get PS5 performance out of that. No way. Not even Sony has been able to get the form factor smaller than the last incarnation of the non-pro version of the console.

I googled it after the comments above and have read multiple sites comparing it to a PS4 not a PS5. That I believe that is more realistic. Plus grouping XBOX ONE and PS5 together makes no sense. XBOX ONE and PS4 had similar specs. Grouping XBOX ONE and PS5 is a huge gap and do not have similar specs.
I talked to my guy after this discussion (which I forgot about) and he said between PS4 and PS5. Not comparing to a PS5. I got my wires crossed.

I also heard a June release from my guy, and that tracks with the reveals that they are doing in different cities all the way into May.

That’s still a gaping chasm. If it’s using DLSS sounds like it’s much closer to a PS4. I guess we will see when the specs hit. Nintendo has a history of releasing underpowered hardware.

It is like you said. They release older hardware to keep the price down.

The only thing I want from this console is to have them join the 21st century in regards to online play/chat etc. I'm going to get the damn thing anyway, because of course I am. That will determine how much it gets played. Switch is still behind One/PS5 in terms of total hours played because of that...

Here's something that my insider said. A possible plan to keep scalpers at bay is to handle the preorders themselves instead of through retailers. It may be tied to your Nintendo account, or even your Nintendo Online account.

But then again preorders signup emails are online for Best Buy at the moment, so who knows...
