Florida State softball completed a sweep of No. 18 Duke with a 9-2 win on Sunday.
The ACC series victory improves the No. 9 Seminoles (29-5) to 6-0 in ACC play this season. FSU recorded 14 hits in the series finale win over Duke, utilizing base running and small ball to score runs in bunches.
Isa Torres led the Seminoles' efforts with a 3-for-5 day that included a tied game-high three RBI. Katie Dack also recorded three RBI on a 2-for-3 day.
Jaysoni Beachum opened the scoring with a towering solo home run in the first inning, her 10th of the season. The Seminoles added three runs in the third inning, with Torres's RBI double giving FSU a 2-0 lead.
A pair of RBI singles from Dack and Jahni Kerr pushed the Seminoles to a 4-0 lead in the top of the third. A two RBI single from Torres in the fourth up FSU's advantage to six, before Duke scored its only runs of the game in the home half of the inning with an RBI single and a ground out allowing two runs to score.
The Seminoles remained in control the remainder of the game, with Ashtyn Danley scoring a base runner with a single in the fifth before Dack scored two on a sixth-inning single.
Danley's RBI was paired with her four scoreless innings thrown. She replaced Annabelle Widra who started the game and threw three innings with two runs allowed on two hits with a pair of strikeouts.
Danley struck out two in her relief appearance, and she allowed four hits to earn her fourth win of the season for the Seminoles.
