they won the division (that they were the worst in) because they had the balls to draft stroud and anderson back to back - gambling their entire future on not one but two rolls of the dice - both of which hit pay dirt - they also strengthened thru free agency and are now an actual attraction in free agency - meaning key players will play there for less than here because of what they've accomplished and where they're headed - it has nothing to do with how crappy their division was - their two playoff wins didn't come within the division - they are the real deal - we could've done exactly what they did we were in the same position

Where the Cardinals were when JG came required them to do exactly what they did. The Cardinals have gone the instant gratification route in the past, and it never delivered what MOJG ultimately want. I like the path we’re currently on & time will tell where it takes us. For now, we’ll have to agree to disagree.

This is the key year for the Cards under Monti and JG. They added some decent players in free agency and have the draft coming up. They also have a much easier schedule than last year. They need to make the playoffs. That is the bottom line.

Are you talking about anyone aside from Zach Allen and Byron Murphy? I agree that those seemed like tough losses at the time and today seem even worse, but I don't think that's the main reason we have won 12 games total in the past two seasons.

Yeah, no. We have had severe talent deficiencies at just the positions they played, and have had to throw money and draft capital at the positions to fix them. Now we hope those positions are fixed, but we are three years on. They could have been key building blocks.

Monti tried hard to sign 3 players from the absolut top of the FA rankings to long term deals. He only actually signed one (Sweat). Not giving credit for effort, but to me it shows a couple of things. And the best available in this new free agency. Big names with declining production is not the answer to build sustainable success.

This is a C offseason at best. Sweat and Tomlinson are good additions, but you needed at least another 2 above average players added to feel confident of a playoff spot.

After multiple offseasons of sitting on our hands, trying hard and failing is of little solace.

NOPE. I do not give credit for failing to sign targets, but do try to rationalize the action of not going for secondary options.
